Cincinnati police probe Greenpeace security breach

Source: Associated Press

Cincinnati police are calling a meeting of the city’s businesses in the aftermath of a security breach at Procter & Gamble Co. headquarters by Greenpeace activists.

Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell said Thursday the protest was ‘‘a wake-up call.’’ Activists got into the offices Tuesday and used zip lines to unfurl banners from the 12th floor. P&G says an activist posing as a businessman on the way to a meeting let the others in.

The activists were protesting P&G’s use of a palm oil supplier they say is tied to tropical forest destruction. They face burglary and vandalism charges.

Blackwell said police take the breach seriously and want to make sure corporations and hotels have solid security plans. He planned to convene a meeting soon.

The FBI has joined the investigation.

City, business leaders plan 'security summit' in wake of P&G protest

Blackwell says businesses should examine their security plan

UPDATED 1:45 PM EST Mar 06, 2014

CINCINNATI —Cincinnati's police chief says the department, company leaders and building owners will meet soon for a "security summit" in the wake of Greenpeace's protest at Procter & Gamble.

<snip>

Chief Jeffrey Blackwell said that the protesters actions should be a wake-up call for business leaders.

"If there were other people involved, it could have been a very tragic situation for Cincinnati," he said.

Blackwell said he intends for the summit to take place within the next week or so.

That should be solely the responsibility of the business.

Then complain that there is nobody downtown.

Worked elsewhere.

Run the cruisers off and then have concerts to try to get them back.

ID all pedestrians on the sidewalk, then complain there are no shoppers.

Give tax advantages to malls and big boxes. Complain that there are no stores downtown.

It seems to work against charges/fines/restitution when The Corporation does it.
