Federal prosecutors in New York on Monday withdrew a subpoena related to Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Chairman David Samson, according to The Bergen Record.
The subpoena was received by the Port Authority on Friday, and it was withdrawn before media outlets like the Wall Street Journal published stories about it Monday afternoon, according to the Record. The subpoena reportedly concerned Samson's "involvement in Port Authority actions," as the Record put it.
It's not clear exactly why the subpoena would have been withdrawn. The U.S. Attorney's office in New Jersey is already looking at the George Washington Bridge lane closures and allegations made by the Democratic mayor of Hoboken, N.J., who earlier this year accused the Christie administration of threatening to withhold Hurricane Sandy aid if she did not approve a development deal. The group behind the development was represented by Wolff & Samson -- the politically connected law firm founded by Samson.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan declined to comment about the reports.

(9,462 posts)feds were going to wait for the court ruling on the other Christie aides before proceeding.
The exact reason was unclear, but the sources said that the U.S. Attorney for New Jersey, who was already investigating the Port Authority's closure of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge, would likely take over any potential inquiry into Samson, who has come under scrutiny for apparent conflicts of interest. - See more at: http://www.northjersey.com/news/Feds_subpoena_Port..

(1,254 posts)are not sure which direction they are going yet when it comes to Samson. Isn't his activities in relation to Wolff & Samson also under scrutiny as well as his involvement in the GWB scandal? If they subpoena his records for the GWBS, wouldn't that prevent them from using these records for any other possible criminal wrong doing by Samson? There maybe more to this than we think and the Feds withdrew the subpoena because they may yet pursue other avenues when it comes to Samson.
