TV Pitchman Kevin Trudeau Gets 10-Year Sentence

Source: ABC News

A federal judge on Monday sentenced TV pitchman Kevin Trudeau to 10 years in prison for bilking consumers via infomercials for his best-selling weight loss book.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman blasted the 50-year-old Trudeau before the sentencing, saying that for decades he "steadfastly attempted to cheat others for his own personal gain." Guzman called Trudeau "deceitful to the core."

Minutes before, Trudeau apologized to the court and said he was a changed man. Trudeau has been jailed since November, when jurors convicted him of criminal contempt for defying a 2004 court order barring him from running false ads about the book. Despite the order, Trudeau aired the infomercials at least 32,000 times, according to prosecutors.

About time this woo spreader has finally gone to the slammer where he belonged.

Trudeau has a long history of being a con artist.

10 years??? Are you kidding ? For claiming weight loss in self help books? All you're doing in promoting the prison INDUSTRY while letting murderers and rapists with connections walk free. This is absurd. I can think of over a 1000 corporate thieves, killers, liars and thugs who belong there instead of this guy. Americans will cheerlead anyone's demise like the voyouers we are.

Trudeau hawked unapproved "weight loss therapies" that involved injections of human growth hormones.
How many people were maimed or killed as a result?

He also thumbed his nose at the FTC, ignoring court orders.

Add to that being a convicted *FELON* committing all this obvious fraud, and you've got a scummy con artist.

Far better to make con artists like Trudeau work off their debt in service to the people, 12 hours and day, six days a week for 10 years. Have some good come out of this.

And we don't believe in promoting a prison society just to make fat cats on Wall St rich. Are people blind? Making everything a federal crime to make those who invest in prisons rich is the real fraud. I'm not even bothering on this thread anymore. People will cheerlead anyone's demise without thinking. Prison is not the answer to every little infraction

If they're not prosecuting bankers, it's because they don't want to prosecute bankers. Even if they didn't prosecute anyone else ever, they still wouldn't be prosecuting bankers.

Besides the 19.95, he was selling information about miracle cures that didn't cure anything. I'm pretty ok with the Justice Department going after people that prey on the vulnerability of sick people by selling them magic beans.

Some of our greatest allies are peddling magic beans. By subscribing to the sick ethos that people can be thrown in prison for ten years for this only promotes the prison industry. It's a book for Gods sake. We all need our hand held these days? There are way bigger frauds. I see some promoted on this site all the time. And yes there are only so many jail spaces so unless you are a cheerleader for building more prisons you should think a little more about what you are saying. I'm not just talking about financial crimes. What about the polluters or the war profiteers? Anyone who supports this guy getting ten years just because you don't like him should not call yourself an American. He got corporate America pissed at first just because he wrote a book about simple herbal remedies. So what if you don't like him because he wants to get rich off something questionable. This is ridiculous.

I had a friend who ordered a couple of his books. Supposedly if you don't like them you can return them and get a refund. Only no one ever answered the 800 number.

In one book he claimed that he was really 67 years old and look how young he looks. He was really 47 at the time.

And I loved his last bunch of ads where he was sitting at a table with several women all wearing extremely seductive outfits with their boobs hanging out. And I've also seen those ads recently while he was in jail. He has to have someone on the outside keeping things going for him.

Yep. The guy is a flim flam man to the core.
