Chris Christie apologizes for ‘occupied territories’ remark

Source: Politico

LAS VEGAS – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in a Saturday afternoon meeting with Sheldon Adelson apologized for stepping on a fault line in fraught Middle East politics during a speech he gave earlier in the day, according to a source familiar with the conversation.

Invoking a 2012 trip he and his family took to Israel, Christie recalled “I took a helicopter ride from the occupied territories across and just felt personally how extraordinary that was to understand, the military risk that Israel faces every day.”

While the story was intended to forge common cause with Adelson and the several hundred donors to the Republican Jewish Coalition to which Christie was speaking, his use of the term “occupied territories” set off murmurs in the crowd.

The term refers to lands in which Palestinians live where Israel maintains a military presence, including the West Bank.

I guess free speech is for Duck Dynasty cast members instead of liberal RINOs like Christie.

The Star-Ledger has a broader article about Christie's speech.

One of the several fractures in the mind of dingbats like Adelson?

They're territories. They're under occupation. That makes them occupied territories. Dah-HURP

Instead of showing he had chops on the Middle-East he showed just how much he still has to learn, and not just on the Middle-East either. (Talk about knowing your audience). Perhaps he still had Bridget Kelly on his mind and the "kind" words she had for him.

Don't these folks have any dignity at all? Even Jeb, with all his family money and connections, felt duty bound to kiss Adelson's ring.

What a completely f'd up society we have when casino moguls end up the richest men in the country.

But Adelson doesn't have long to live. He looks unhealthy, and he's very old.

sit, roll over, fetch Mr. Adelson's slippers. Perform tricks for your million dollar treats. It's all quite unseemly. Did you say "occupied territories"? Bad governor. Give me a break. Governor Christie, we've established what kind of person you are, now we're just negotiating price!

When is he going to apologize for spending Sandy Relief funds on himself and extorting it to the Mayors of NJ?
