Wisconsin 2nd in U.S. in job losses last month, new estimates show
Source: Madison Cap. Times
Wisconsin was second in the nation in total job losses last month, a somewhat surprising development considering the states unemployment rate has reached its lowest level since November 2008.
Employers in Wisconsin shed an estimated 9,500 total public and private sector jobs in February, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported late last week.
Along with North Carolina (11,300 job losses) and Alaska (2,300 job losses), Wisconsin experienced a statistically significant decline in employment, according to a press release from the BLS.
The Wisconsin losses included an estimated 7,900 government jobs, 5,000 jobs in professional or business services and 2,200 in manufacturing.

(7,403 posts)Meaning it is even worse than the headline number. Plus, Wisconsin was still lagging other States in job creation before being hit by this downturn.

(9,740 posts)In the Walker parts of the state they jump for joy for those jobs. Sams Club is coming to Sheboygan and the locals are all atwitter for the $12 average jobs that are coming to town. Even Walker's attempt to steal good jobs from MN and IL by advertising in those states is falling flat.

(62,416 posts)Branstad campaigned that he would add 200,000 to Iowa's economy. By his count (he only adds, never subtracts losses) we have gained 120,000 - normal people count @40,000.
In January he counted a plus 2,200 jobs while the BLS said we lost 7,300. His worthlessness was only 9,500 off.
Branstad so wants to play with the Walkers, Snyders, Kasiches and Scotts of 'merika.

(5,668 posts)is the Hispanics used to love him. Immigration didn't used to be one sided until some idiot called John McCain made it that way.. Until then Bush Jr elected and reelected by Hispanics. There is nothing truely wrong with this but shows the Hippocratic crap they have to go to by blaming all the Immigration on the left. Do they love Terry now? have no idea. I'm one of the long term unemployed. Helped only by someone who knows Medicare. I've had Clinical Depression for some time. SSD covers this. Too bad the scum you helped me is mostly drunk.

I suspect he would sell human organs, ours of course, not his. Reward without personal cost. The epitome of Capitalism.

(47,479 posts)saying how lower taxes attract businesses from.... high taxed Minnesota.
Never mind that even though Minnesota is no. 47 and Wisconsin is 43, "Minnesotas economy was the fifth-fastest growing in the nation in 2012 and the unemployment rate in August was 5.1 percent, compared with a 7.3 percent U.S. jobless rate.
The state has chosen over the years other priorities than a business-friendly tax climate, and up to now the strategy has paid off. Lou Glazer, who runs a think tank in Michigan (ranked 14th in the nation for tax climate), has written a lot on the comparisons between Minnesota, a relatively high-tax state with a strong economy, and Michigan, a relatively low-tax state whose economy is struggling.
The comparisons favor Minnesota."

I have since gained employment, once again Walker had nothing to do with it.
