Cantor holds firm against unemployment bill

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) on Friday gave every indication that the House will not consider a bill to extend emergency unemployment benefits, even if the Senate passes the bill as expected early next week.
Cantor was asked directly on the House floor by Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) whether Senate action on its bill next week might prompt the House to act. Cantor did not explicitly say yes or no, but strongly indicated Republicans would not consider it.
"It doesn't create any jobs, and right now we are in the business of trying to see how we can get people back to work, for an America that works for more people," he said.
Cantor noted that the idea of retroactively extending benefits that expired in late December would be unworkable, and said many state officials have made this clear to Congress. That prompted Hoyer to ask whether Republicans could consider a prospective bill, but Cantor dismissed that idea as well.

Name me ONE thing you and your party has done to get people back to work, Cantor. Name ONE thing.
All Cantor and the Republicans have done for the past 6 years is obstruct, obstruct, obstruct.
They don't give a damn about the ordinary person on the street. They "have" caused job losses in the last 6 years, but haven't created any! I hope like hell Cantor has some right wing nut case tea bagger run against him in his primary just to piss him off. Then I hope there is a strong democrat to take him on in November and this "clown" is fired!
The House won't put the bill on the floor because they would have to "vote" for or against, and all those who would vote against it would have to explain to the unemployed back home why they voted NO. This way they can just lie to the folks back home and say "we tried to help you but that Obama just wouldn't let us"!
