Hillary Clinton tells tech audience: I'm thinking of running for president

Source: CNET

SAN FRANCISCO -- No, she didn't announce plans Tuesday to run in 2016. But Hillary Clinton -- today a private citizen, tomorrow, still anyone's guess -- took one step closer to making the news official.
"I am thinking about it," said Clinton.

"The hard questions aren't do you want to be president, or can you win," said Clinton, who appeared here as the headliner at a conference sponsored by marketing automation software company Marketo. "The hard question is why. Why would you want to do this and what would you offer that could make a difference."

The former first lady and US secretary of state, has not publicly declared her interest in running for president in 2016 but is widely considered a shoo-in for the Democratic nomination if she decides to compete.

You're right, rhett. Hillary loves to play the populist when it suits her. But she enjoys even more giving $200,000 speeches to Wall Street bankers. And when those bankers shell out that kind of bribe money, they expect something big in return.

I'm disappointed in Obama. But should Hillary be elected in 2016, she won't disappoint me. Because I know right now what to expect. And it won't be good.

Personally, I'm REALLY hoping that Bernie Sanders enters the race.

By the way, Sanders is one of the Senate's least-wealthy members. And that's because he won't prostitute himself out for "speeches" (bribes).

When Reaganonomics was still unassailable, at least some argument could be made for electing a corporate-loving DLCer who would at least soften the impact around the edges.

Since at least 2004, America has been ready for a progressive president, but the leaders of the Democratic Party block one from taking the reins.

This is getting to be like one of those tours by some 70's band that will really be the "last" tour. We know you are running, we even on here, there are people trying to kill any and all debate so that 2016 becomes the coronation of Hillary, Imperatrix Americana, just like 2008 was supposed to be.

I have no illusions about being able to stop you, as you have learned from 2008, and as much as you losing in 2016 would see you and your grubby hubby finally shown the door, I know that we cannot allow a GOP into the Oval Office. Yes, oh official Queenmakers, yes, I will vote for her if she wins the nomination, even though if she wins, it will due to the fact that many in this party think the only way to beat the GOP is to become the GOP. However, do not think that my putting off your proclamation that the primary will be allowed to be a victory lap. The left saved your ass in the 90's, where you and your not so better half realized they needed the left to save them after Bill smoked that cigar. You will need us this time, especially since for all your fundrasing prowess, you will need actual substance to beat the Koches and Addison who will shovel billions to whoever the GOP picks.

But I think many who moan and groan about Obama on DU will support Clinton adamantly in the primary if she runs.

In 2008 I backed Obama in the primary and was happy he won. Being from Oregon most of the time the nominee is decided way before our primary comes around. It was nice to feel like I could have a say before it was a "done deal".

Lets hope some good candidates get in the ring regardless of whether anyone thinks they can win. Certainly the first 10 months Obama (prior to Iowa) he was viewed as a long shot. I'm ready for another long shot, someone who they say can't do it. Bring it on!

Around here it gets the usual reaction. Well, too damn bad!!! Millions of people DO want her to run. Of course they'll also be other people in the primaries, but some of you act as if the most popular Democrat in the country shouldn't run for office because it doesn't meet your purity standards. Hillary Clinton: So you are talking about the outsourcing of US jobs to India. We know it's been going on for many years now and it's part of our economic relationship with India and I think there are advantages with it that have certainly benefitted many parts of our country and there are disadvantages that go to the need to improve the job fields of our own people and create a better economic environment so it's like anything like the pluses and minuses.

Obama camp attacks Hillary's Indian links

When United States Senator Barak Obama entered the American Presidential race, he staked out his turf on the moral high ground with a call for a new kind of politics, devoid of personal attack and characterised by debates on the issues that matter.

His campaign apparently has not been listening: Members of the Senator's campaign staff have been circulating a document that, in its title, slightingly refers to Democratic rival Senator Hillary Clinton as the Democrat from Punjab -- a seeming slur on Clinton's ties with India and Indian Americans.

The three page 'opposition research paper', titled Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)'s Personal Financial and Political Ties, which has begun circulating in the blogosphere, criticises the Clintons' links to India in an effort and attacks her record on outsourcing, and on protecting American jobs.

The D-Punjab reference apparently refers to a joke Senator Clinton made last year, at a fund-raiser hosted by New York-based hotelier and top Democratic fund-raiser Sant Singh Chatwal. 'I can certainly run for the Senate seat in Punjab and win easily,' she had said on that occasion.

The document references the Clintons' recently released financial disclosure forms, to underline former President Bill Clinton's acceptance of $300,000 for paid speeches from Cisco Systems, a company that, the document notes, has 'shifted hundreds of jobs from America to India.'
