Louie Gohmert Compares Gay Rights Advocates To Nazis In House Floor Speech

Source: TPM

TOM KLUDT – MAY 9, 2014, 1:50 PM EDT

You know who else called people "haters"? Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) does, so he took to the House floor on Friday afternoon to offer a Third Reich comparison that was bizarre even for Third Reich comparisons.

So, who's resembling the Nazis now? It's the gay rights advocates, of course.

After he said that Christians really "love homosexuals," Gohmert channeled Martin Niemöller while lamenting the persecution of gay marriage opponents.

So it is amazing that in the name of liberality, in the name of being tolerant, this fascist intolerance has arisen. People that stand up and say, you know, I agree with the majority of Americans, I agree with Moses and Jesus that marriage was a man and a woman, now all of a sudden, people like me are considered haters, hate mongers, evil, which really is exactly what we've seen throughout our history as going back to the days of the Nazi takeover in Europe. What did they do? First, they would call people "haters" and "evil" and build up disdain for those people who held those opinions or religious views or religious heritage. And then the next came, well, those people are so evil and hateful, let's bring every book that they've written or has to do with them and let's start burning the books, because we can't tolerate their intolerance.

Nazis said we hate them...just like what Gohmert is saying. Gays are not calling anyone haters, they are just standing up for their civil rights...the rest of the nation is asking people to refrain from hate crimes but Gohmert does not want to be restrained from saying what he wants against them because he hates them. Too stupid to know how stupid he is...or how offensive.

This is Louie....Louie the inbred, Dixie flag waving lunatic from the GOP zoo. Honestly, this guy is only worth entertainment value if you can stomach one of the lowest forms of life from the back woods of Texas, and if you maybe thought he was relevant for any particular reason, which he is not.
Why do I think of the Andy Griffith Show when I see this dim-witted clown, with his ears sticking out of his homely face the size of silver dollars. Funny he could be...in Congress, he's an insult to our government and any sense of intelligence. If this jackass is what the GOP wants to put out front as "the voice of the GOP", God help them, and more power to the circus masters.

Of course he is out of what he is pleased to call his mind, but he did serve as chief justice on the court of appeals, as per the Project Vote Smart bio at the link.

You're in the world,
but no Of the world ...

Rejoice when they speak ill of you and cause all kinds of evil to befall you for Jesus's sake, and the gospel's ...
For that's what they did to the prophets who came before you!

Rejoice at such times, and be glad,
For great will be your reward in heaven.

If you agree with the majority of Americans, then you agree with marriage equality. Oh, and Jesus and Moses never said anything about marriage being between a man and a woman. Now, Moses may have said that it was between a man and a bunch of wives and concubines, but that's about it.

that you can believe any asinine thing you want. Most of us are willing to accept that you hold these views and let ya be, except for posting to blogs or verbally disputing your viewpoint. You, on the other hand, believe that your viewpoint MUST be imposed on those who believe otherwise, and anyone expressing an alternative viewpoint is a "fascist." To quote the famous philosopher Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Fascism: an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.

In Gohmertworld, denying equal rights is "freedom" but wanting equal rights is "fascism." Hispanic immigrants, by and large, come to America for a better life in the real world, but in Gohmertworld they are all drug-mules and have melon-ish lower extremities. The "CHURCH (Congressional Hope for Uniform Recognition of Christian Heritage) Act" is American, but non-Christians wanting equal treatment is un-American. In Gohmertworld, we can't vaccinate "because liberal elites are culling the earth's human population."

OMFG, Texas, what the hell is wrong with you electing these cretins?

Essentially: "... if you mention Adolf Hitler or Nazis within a discussion thread, you’ve automatically ended whatever discussion you were taking part in.”

Gohmert can't figure it out, to him, the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train; he puts stupid to shame. I'd say he's more of a cretin than an idiot.

First of all Gohmert (I will never call him Gomer because I have to much admiration for Jim Neighbors and "Gomer Pyle&quot is wrong on so many points.

1. Where did Moses say that marriage was between a man and a woman? Even if we took the first 5 books of the Old Testament as inspired by God, the only thing said in there is that men and women shall leave their families to be joined together. There is not even a single mention of "marriage" as we know it. The ceremony or institution of marriage is only incidentally referred to in the Bible such as the marriage ceremony that Jesus allegedly attended.

2. The majority of Americans do not believe marriage is between a man and a woman. The majority now slightly favor marriage equality which means they do not believe marriage is limited to 1 dude and 1 dudette.

3. You are free to believe whatever you want to believe. But when your beliefs, speech and actions cause harm to LGBT persons it is no longer okay. Anti-LGBT hate speech and bullying results in suicides. Anti-LGBT hate speech and policy result in persons being subject to losing their jobs and or their homes simply because they are LGBT.

Gohmert, go crawl back under the rock from which you came. I feel sorry for the dirt and the rock.
