Trayvon Martin death becomes national rallying cry

Source: MSNBC

Thousands of people in cities across the country planned to march this weekend to call for justice in memory of Trayvon Martin, the black teenager shot to death last month by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida.

Rallies were planned Saturday in Washington, Chicago, Dallas and Tampa, Fla. Seattle, Baltimore and Atlanta were among other cities hosting weekend events. Protesters were encouraged to wear hoodies – the type of garment Martin had on when he was killed.

In Tampa, up to 1,000 people marched to one of the city's busiest intersections, the Tampa Bay Times reported. They carried signs that said, "I am Trayvon" and "Arrest Zimmerman for a cold-blooded murder" or "Justice for Trayvon." Many wore hoodies and carried bags of Skittles, just as Martin did at the time he was shot, according to the Times.

In Columbia, S.C., hundreds of people gathered in Finlay Park, wistv.com reported.

"Trayvon is the Emmitt Till of our generation," said event co-chair Chris Sullivan. He's referring to the Mississippi 14-year-old who was beaten to death in 1955 for allegedly whistling at a white woman

Should be arrested now. There is overwhelming evidence to support the arrest. Arrest does NOT equate to conviction. Arrest does NOT equate to lynching. Arrest does NOT equate to a miscarriage of justice. On the other hand, the failure to investigate and the failure to act on available evidence is a tremendous miscarriage of justice.

Despite your hyperbolic description--that IMHO borders on the obscene, it is THAT which I have clearly described which the majority are demanding.

The point i am trying to make is that after the initial investigation and release...how can a prosecutor prosecute? The only way they can arrest and convict is if the Dept. of Justice and FBI can find and charge the Sanford police with falsifying evidence on a racial basis.
Otherwise the defense will have the Sanford Police for witnesses and the state has nothing. Tell me how to correctly apply that one. Who will the state call in their case? How can the prosecutor take it to trial? None of the protestors, or Al Sharpton, or the TV pundits can be called as witnesses for the state.
The Police in Sanford can not be called because all their testimony is exculpatory. So who the Hell can they call? Ghostbusters?? The Feds have to go first against the Sanford PD.

Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Faux news and their lies. Lot's of factors contributed to this unnecessary racist shooting. Stand your Ground law should be revoked. Too many loose cannons like Zimmerman walking around with a gun.

After reading your post-- I wanted to find some videos that explain how hurtful hate radio is!
"What happens when America's airwaves fill with hate? BILL MOYERS JOURNAL takes a tough look at the hostile industry of "Shock Jock" media with a hard-hitting examination of its effects on our nation's political discourse." warning; (hard to watch-): :

have taken up an issue on a large scale - rush being the other one. We need to make sure we do not forget either one of these issues. But I have faith that we will not forget that we are back in the 60s again fighting the same issues: women's rights, civil rights, anti-war, environmental safety and everything that went with it. But this time I think we are going to win on a long term basis.

And I hope that maybe this tragedy can spark the kind of change that Emmits murder contributed to. Only this time without as much violence maybe, but I'm not sure if that's the 'American ' way.
