Southern Baptist Church considers joining failed Operation American Spring protest
Source: Raw Story
Operation American Spring (OAS) may have found a new ally in its effort to impeach President Barack Obama in the form of Southern Baptists.
Former Vice President of the Southern Baptist convention, Wiley Drake (pictured above), drafted a motion to consider leading us to consider being a part of Operation American Spring seeking the impeachment of the President of the United States.
His motion was seconded by enough of the conventions 4,400 attendees to warrant more debate, and a vote on it will be taken at some point before the conventions end.
Operation American Spring could use the support, as its presence at the National Mall has dwindled from the hundreds who attended its initial rally to the tens who currently gather to shout Benghazi! at the White House.
This is not the first time Drake has involved himself with efforts to remove the president from office. He called Obama an evil illegal alien in 2009, insisting that God would punish Pastor Rick Warren for participating in the presidents first inauguration.
He later claimed that he was praying an imprecatory prayer in more colloquial terms, cursing the usurper that is in the White House.
When radio host Alan Colmes asked if that meant he was praying for Obamas death, Drake replied, Yes. If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death, thats correct.

(19,564 posts)Our country is slowly being dismantled by a minority of extremest who have no respect for the majority of us. Our government doesn't want to take a stand against it and risk giving the "other side" political fuel to exploit against them. The end result is the extremist keep gaining footholds here and there and are taking away rights from the rest of the American citizens. The right to access to a safe abortion for women is one such example of the rights these extremist have had a direct effect on.

(2,100 posts)That always cracks me up so much. We had one when I was in the youth group of my church many years ago. Some boy was being a bad influence on one of the delicate female members of the congregation and could possibly turn her away from Christ. So our youth pastor explained what imprecatory prayer was and prayed that if the young man didn't turn to Christ then God should kill him.
What cracked me up - even at the time - was the solemnity of the occasion. The very dire circumstances that required such a prayer. Like a weapon of mass destruction, only used as the very last ultimate resort. Now kids, don't go imprecatory on just anyone. Teachers you don't like, old girlfriends or boyfriends who dumped you, your parents when they're being unfair. Cause God will do it you know. They'll all of a sudden drop dead and then won't you feel bad.
I never did hear whether the guy died unexpectedly.

With Christ leading the troops, how can they fail? Guns and God - what a mixture.

(35,699 posts)According to The Baptist Press, the motion to join Operation American Spring was ruled out of order because it would direct SBC officers to act outside scope of their duties, as defined in the conventions governing documents.
