Ukraine accuses Russia of allowing tanks across border

Source: Reuters

KIEV, June 12 (Reuters) - Ukraine's interior minister accused Russia on Thursday of allowing three tanks and other military vehicles to cross the border into east Ukraine to help pro-Russian separatists there.

Russia did not immediately respond to the accusations but Reuters correspondents saw three tanks in the border town of Snizhnye in east Ukraine.

Kiev says three Russian tanks entered east Ukraine.

Ukraine's interior minister has said that three tanks have crossed the border from Russia into rebel areas of the east and fighting is under way.

The tanks entered Ukraine along with other armour through a checkpoint controlled by rebels in the Luhansk region, Arsen Avakov said.

Ukrainian forces engaged two of them and fighting is under way, he said.

There was no confirmation from the rebels, who reported a Ukrainian government tank attack near Luhansk.

the DPR has confirmed the receipt of 3 tanks. They didn't say "captured." People claim to have seen them in Dmitrivka, where they crossed the border, before they showed up anywhere else.

Worse is the claim that as the armored vehicles crossed the border a Russian plane was scrambled to monitor for any Ukr aviation approaching.

T-70s or T-72s. One claim is one is destroyed. Snizhne is where one bit of video was taken. Makiyivke is where additional footage was taken.

Think it just an accident that a day or two ago Pushilin was in Moscow meeting with Zhirinovsky's contingent in the Duma? Or that Tsaryov showed up from Russia at the same time?

Problem is that people like Putin's lies. They believe them just enough to not have to do anything about the truth. Some lies are truly convenient and fall in the category of "I want to believe" because the alternative requires action that might be painful. If only revising one's beliefs.

Where is not immediately obvious, unless one knows the Snizhnye area.
