Obama calling on grads to fight climate change

Source: AP-EXCITE

By NEDRA PICKLER

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) — President Barack Obama is encouraging college graduates to keep up the fight against climate change.

The president is expected to issue a call to action on global warming in a commencement address Saturday at the University of California, Irvine. Earlier this month, he announced a contentious plan to cut pollution from power plants.

Obama also plans to raise money for the Democratic National Committee at a closed-door fundraiser at a private home in Orange County.

He's spending the rest of the Father's Day weekend at the Rancho Mirage home of White House decorator Michael Smith and his partner, U.S. Ambassador to Spain James Costos.

In Canada, our current PM is a global warming denialist, for all intents and purposes.

Obama urges environmental activism, optimism in UC Irvine speech

Obama's UC-Irvine speech draws proud parents and protesters, excerpt from this one:

Outside Angel Stadium, a few dozen protesters lined the streets to voice opposition to the administration's policies on deportation and drone strikes in the Middle East. One group was draped in all black with their faces covered chanting "No border. No nation. No more deportation."

Huh. No Teabag protesters, since UCI is in Orange County?

People of that age are pretty self centered .. all things related to climate issues are definitely not a priority. What we do need is for our President to stand up to the Big Corporate Polluters and make them pay! Exxon comes to mind etc etc.. You know those same corporate entities where these graduates will be vying for jobs.
