Carney gives his last briefing as Obama spokesman

WASHINGTON (AP) White House spokesman Jay Carney gave his final briefing to reporters as the presidential press secretary on Wednesday, concluding a 3½-year run sparring with a White House press corps to which he once belonged.
Carney is leaving after five years as both a presidential and a vice presidential aide. Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest will replace him at the White House podium.
Unflappable and careful not to improvise, Carney presided over the daily hour-long press briefings, explaining and defending Obama policies and initiatives. Carney's entry into the briefing room Wednesday was heralded by music from Guided by Voices, Carney's favorite indie rock band.
"I have loved every minute of every day, even the many minutes of many days I spent in this room," Carney, a former Time correspondent, said of his job.

How difficult it must have been to be the voice of a lame duck with a veto for this long.
Not President Obama's fault, but the fault of Obama voters who sat on their asses in 2010.

(2,157 posts)To say that your job is one of the toughest in Washington is an understatement to say the least. Yet when the President of the United States called you to duty, you stepped up in one of the most turbulent and tumultuous times not only politically in Washington,DC, but around the Country & around the World.
You stepped up to the plate & through the best of times & the darkest of hours, you were the voice of the most powerful man in the entire world, and to say you did a wonderful job is also a gross understatement, Mr. Carney, you hit it out of the park.
THANK-YOU & I WISH YOU NOTHING BUT THE BEST IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS!

I don't cry tears for Carney, and I don't cast blame (for what?) on "Obama voters who sat on their asses".
Either a person voted or didn't, and if a person voted, then that person didn't "sit on their ass".
Let's put it in the shortest, truest words: Dems elected to Congress and Senate seats fall short. These Dems - elected, all of them - totally blew it in the first years after Obama's '08 win. So it just stands to reason that electing *more of the same* won't help.
Were all the Dems at the forefront of this debacle Third-Way? Does it matter what banner they fly under?
