Elderly couple abandons their home after address is posted on Twitter as that of George Zimmerman
Source: The Orlando Sentinel.
A school-cafeteria lunch lady and her husband have received hate mail, unwanted visits from reporters and fearful inquiries from neighbors all because their Sanford-area address is being disseminated on Twitter as belonging to Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman, her son said late Tuesday.
The woman, 70, who has a heart condition, and her husband, 72, have temporarily moved to a hotel to avoid the spotlight and possible danger, said son Chip Humble of Longwood.
The woman has another son named William George Zimmerman who lived with her in 1995 and still lives in Central Florida. He is no relation to George Zimmerman, 28, who killed 17-year-old Trayvon Feb. 26, sparking national outrage and international interest.
....
Zimmerman traced the tweets which he said have been retweeted by actor-director Spike Lee to a man in California. Zimmerman has implored the man to stop and said he received this response, "Black power all day. No justice, no peace" and an obscenity.

Not the correct Zimmerman and this type of childishness willn't stop even with the correct Zimmerman's conviction.

All we have to do is wait for the upcoming murder, if this continues.
This is all a matter for the law enforcement and justice system. It's nobody's business, except the law, where Zimmerman the shooter is. And Zimmerman the shooter was not necessarily guilty of "murder." In fact, he probably wasn't. If he had been out to kill Martin, he wouldn't have called the police.
davidthegnome
(2,983 posts)" If he had been out to kill Martin, he wouldn't have called the police."
Calling the police makes it look better, he can then claim he attempted to handle the matter legally. Also, Zimmerman was told by police NOT to approach Martin, he did so anyay. Had his interest truly been in working with he authorities, it stands to reason that he would have been inclined to obey them. (sarcasm) But then again, what can one do when dangerous looking individuals wielding skittles and wearing hoods come to their neighborhoods?
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)anything. No way this jerk could even think that craftily to plan a murder in advance and then call the cops to make it look like he wasn't going to murder someone? Seriously? You've gone off the deep end.
Looks like he was trigger happy, there was an altercation of some sort, and he shot without thinking or in reaction or in the heat of the moment.
There is no evidence whatsoever of intent to kill someone. None. Don't let your emotions take your eyes away from the evidence.

(14,881 posts)It's more than terrifying. It's dangerous. Here is an elderly couple forced out of their homes. He should pay for their hotel at the very least. Buy them a new home would not be overkill, either. They don't dare move back and they probably wouldn't even be able to sell their current home. Who would buy it, knowing they could be targeted?

(14,779 posts)Spike Lee's involvement was to post it, then the man who did the hate comment expanded on it.
Zimmerman traced the tweets which he said have been retweeted by actor-director Spike Lee to a man in California. Zimmerman has implored the man to stop and said he received this response, "Black power all day. No justice, no peace" and an obscenity
Thus it is clear this second person is the person who is spreading the address on the Net, NOT Spike Lee.

(36,418 posts)The Sentinel has done a terrible job of covering the real facts in this case. Zimmerman, the son of a Judge, committed a violent felony assault on a police officer and two domestic violence charges but the state attorney dropped the charges. Why was this guy allowed to walk and obtain a gun and be given the opportunity to assault people again? What role did the improper influence on the prosecutor have on this? Why was Zimmerman allowed to walk again by the State's Attorney, after he killed someone? Those are the question that the corporate media should have unearthed many days ago, but haven't.
The cover-up is why amateurs have had to step in to dig out the facts, and some of them have gotten it wrong or passed on bad information, which is inevitable.
leftofcool
(19,460 posts)Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)It's not the media's fault. That guy didn't "have to" send an address around, knowing no doubt that someone might go to the house and murder the resident. And Lee certainly didn't "have to" forward it multiple times.
The FBI and DOJ are investigating. Looks to me like some people just want someone killed. It's not justice they're after. They don't even know all the facts. Neither do you or I. Some people are just angry because they think Trayvon was profiled due to his race.

(36,418 posts)and misleading part-truths since the beginning. That is certainly the case for the Orlando Sentinel that did not report the felony charge or that the father is a Judge. They've been minimizing and spinning. There should be some outrage at that, shouldn't there? After all, that was almost certainly an intentional omission, not an unintended error in transmission.

I spent 20 minuets going over Spike's old tweets all the way back to the 16th and the ONLY address on his twitter feed is that asking Martin supporters to send the Chief of Police skittles. We're supposed to be democrats, We need to support Spike instead of attacking him. I just had to come back to defend him because it seems like all you want to do is condemn him.

The McClains claim is fully resolved, Matt Morgan, their attorney, said in an email. Mr. Lee personally called them to give a very heartfelt apology. Further, he agreed to compensate them for their loss and the disruption to their lives.
The McClains were very moved by Mr. Lee's apology, Morgan said. They would like the Lee family to be left in peace, Morgan said.
