House GOP moves ahead on suing Obama

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) —House Republicans took the initial step on Thursday to sue President Barack Obama over the administration's decision to delay the employer mandate of the health care law.

Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, announced that Republicans had released a draft resolution that would authorize the House to file suit amid GOP criticism that the president has declined to faithfully execute the laws of the country.

"In 2013, the president changed the health care law without a vote of Congress, effectively creating his own law by literally waiving the employer mandate and the penalties for failing to comply with it," Boehner said in a statement. "That's not the way our system of government was designed to work. No president should have the power to make laws on his or her own."

The House Rules Committee has scheduled a hearing on the resolution next week, with a House vote later this month.

They were for the delay in mandates before they were "against" the delays. I think these idiots painted themselves into a corner with the lawsuit threat, even when they could not say what it was they were suing him for, so this is what they came up with!

The whole thing is going to backfire big time for them, and I couldn't be happier!

Do the House Republicans know that Barack Obama is a lawyer, that he studied law at Harvard, that he taught law at the University of Chicago? Do they know that, at the drop of a pin, hundreds of very talented lawyers around the country will donate their services to handle Obama's side of this lawsuit?

Do they know that the voter reaction to a lawsuit which, in effect, tries to punish Obama for making Affordable Care work, is probably going to cost the Republicans heavily on Election Day?

Do they even know that they were sent to Washington to legislate, not litigate?
