FBI accused of collecting intelligence at mosques

Newly obtained FBI documents show that agents conducting "outreach" programs at Bay Area mosques were taking notes on Muslims' names, views and religious activities and entering them into intelligence files, the American Civil Liberties Union said Tuesday.

Most of the information in the documents that the ACLU released appeared to be innocuous - mosque construction and relocation, one Muslim's complaint about delays in boarding planes, an account of a sermon in Seaside on the "evils associated with the practice of earning interest on money."

But it was both wrong and illegal for the FBI to use purported community meetings with local Muslims to secretly record information - which the documents describe as "positive intelligence" - and pass it along to other agencies, said ACLU attorney Julia Harumi Mass.

"The FBI's targeting of American Muslims for intelligence-gathering under the guise of community outreach is an affront to religious liberty," Mass said.

The comments section is rooting for the FBI...and I bet many of those same people would then go out waving signs "get the government out of our lives!" But...government HAS to intrude on MUSLUMS because they are POTENTIALLY going to be TERRARISTS!!!!!
