Ukrainian rebel website suggests insurgents shot down Malaysia Airlines plane by mistake
Source: Agence France-Presse
A social media site attributed to a top Ukrainian rebel commander said the insurgents had shot down an army transporter at the location where a Malaysia Airlines plane crashed Thursday near the Russian border.
The comments by the top military commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk Peoples Republic suggest the separatists shot down the Malaysia Airlines plane by mistake, believing it was a large Ukrainian army transport plane.
We just downed an An-26 near Torez. It is down near the Progress mine, said the VK page attributed to Igor Strelkov, which is frequently quoted by Ukrainian media.
The rebels shot down another An-26 in rebel-held eastern Ukraine on June 14, killing 49 government servicemen.

(22,000 posts)why they were removed from one country and given to another, whether any tampering of any sort has taken place before they are opened and the information is extracted, and what motivation there was to do such a thing.

(6,045 posts)sent them to Moscow where they will they will remain. However, Russia will deny they know where they are. There are like 12 different recording devices on a Boeing 777 so who knows if they know to get them all?
Does not really matter because the black boxes won't really help much we already know what happened & the evidence of the missile strike will be all over the plane & the dead bodies...Especially the ones near where the missile exploded. They won't be able to hide that evidence unless they simply do not allow anyone access to anything...It they might take that approach who is going to stop them?
Reter
(2,188 posts)They might not have even seen the missile(s). And even if they did, they probably would say "Oh shit, there a missile chasing us!" then boom! They probably wouldn't know who shot it, and likely wouldn't say anything we don't already know.

(6,943 posts)If there were even the slightest possibility that anything incriminating were on them, the militia want to find them and then make sure they 'disappeared' somewhere safely across the border.

(6,943 posts)Now that those *ssclowns have allowed themselves to be videotaped with at least one of the flight recorders, such a claim would be damning. Prior to that occurring (when I made my post, e.g. ), it would've been suspicious, of course- damnably suspicious-- but probative of nothing.
The more information that becomes available is leading me to an inescapable conclusion: these 'rebels' are not the sharpest tools in Dear Vlad's shed.

(35,356 posts)If there'd been peace, if Ukraine had let the regions secede, there'd have been no war.
In any event, the country in which the event happened is fully responsible.
And having pronounced judgment, the commander in chief then told his military to provide any assistance possible to shed light on what happened.
It's the same with numerous other incidents. Anything that happens in Ukraine is the fault of the fascist junta in Kiev. Doesn't matter which side does it--there's a scapegoat in the fascist Banderites.
I guess that means the Grad fire a couple of nights ago from Russian soil is Putin's personal responsibility. I wonder how he'll handle the trial for the dead Ukrainian soldier that resulted during that assault. (Oh, wait. The Russian media didn't really mention this. If the universe's media of record lacks information on an event, did it really happen?)

(185 posts)I've only seen a 2 other people question this. Everyone else is leaping over themselves to talk the conspiracy theories.. but people.... Bodies that have been dead since march long ago bloated, out gassed, deteriorated, and were subject to wild life????????????
When did this airliner get shot down really? Was it hijacked, the military corp employee's taken off it and resumed flight at a later date... Forensic on this say those bodies long ago "bloated"
Reter
(2,188 posts)This plane in this thread was shout down July 17. The missing Malaysian plane from March was not found, hence no bodies.

(11 posts)I am not a professional strategist or a specialist in Ukraine/Russia politics.
However, I just wish to ask some questions trying to use logic and critical thinking.
a. What motivation did the Rebels/Ukraine Army/Russian establishment have?
To answer this question we should look at the differences between Eastern and Western Ukraine.
A. Which has more energy resources?
B. What kind of employment trends are unique to a specific region?
C. What arm \he working conditions fro Eastern Ukrainians that force them to protest?
I suggest to google Ukraine Dombass Industrial Complex, or Ukraine Energy Supplies and see that the articles tend to report on below average employment conditions.
This may drive the conflict and force Eastern Ukraine to protect its land against the West Ukraine.
