Sen. Marco Rubio Endorses Mitt Romney On 'Hannity,' Says GOP Primary Should End

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON — Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida endorsed Mitt Romney as the party's presidential nominee Wednesday night, saying it's increasingly clear that Romney will win the nomination and that continuing the primary fight will only damage the effort to defeat President Barack Obama.

Rubio, a freshman senator and tea party favorite, said he's convinced that Romney will govern as a conservative and will be superior to Obama as a president.

"The quicker we can get this campaign on that focus – focused on the president's record, on the alternative that we offer – the better off we're going to be as a movement but also the better off the country's going to be," Rubio said during an interview with Fox News Channel.

Rubio had pledged to stay neutral in the race. But on Wednesday he said a floor fight over the nomination at the party convention in August would be "a recipe to deliver four more years to Barack Obama."

The night Obama was elected, I predicted that Romney would be the nominee. That was an easy call.

The night Rubio was elected, I predicted that Rubio would be his running mate, would lose against President Obama, and Rubio would go on to be elected President in 2016. A harder call, but one I stick by.

What I did not see in 2010 was the rise of Elizabeth Warren outside the Obama Administration. I think, if elected to the Senate, that she would give us a good shot at stopping Rubio in 2016.

For the good of the country, may the intramural Republican primary bashing continue. the more the right-wing Republican presidential candidates spend catering to their even MORE right-wing base, the less likely it is that they'll be able to "walk back" their extremist and reactionary positions after their primaries are over and they have to appeal to moderates and independents.

I find it almost tempting to donate to Sanitarium's primary campaign here in Texas to keep the blood-letting going just so the Rethugly agenda can turn off voters outside of Texas if not inside it when the serious voting starts.

Would be that we could focus all the heat on the inhuman gaffe machine that is Mitt.
