Bill, Hillary Clinton blast "despicable" anti-Clinton authors

Source: CBS

Books bashing the Clintons have been a cottage industry among conservatives since before former President Bill Clinton took office in 1993. The polemics came and went; some of them forged their way up the bestseller charts, but the Clintons rarely bothered to swat at the critics nipping their heels.

However, with Hillary Clinton preparing for a potential presidential bid in 2016, and a trio of new anti-Clinton books hitting bookshelves, the most famous family in American politics has apparently had quite enough.

Spokesmen for Bill and Hillary Clinton, along with their daughter Chelsea, criticized the authors of anti-Clinton books in a statement released Wednesday, and they urged the media not to give the authors a platform.

"We now have a Hat Trick of despicable actors concocting trashy nonsense for a quick buck, at the expense of anything even remotely resembling the truth," explained the statement, which was obtained by Politico. "It's an insult to readers (and) authors, and should be reserved for the fiction bin, if not the trash."

3. The Bill and Hillary bashing has been awful in the rags, too.

They put big, colorful photos on the front with some outrageous headline. And then the article inside is all just a big rehash of every conspiracy theory about the Clintons for the last 30 years.

They are also going after the Obamas big time. Only its all about how their marriage is on the rocks and they are planning to divorce soon and yadayada

those same rags said Laura was going to leave George. Not that I'm defending W in any way, but those kinds of papers aren't anti-Obama, they just put anything on the cover that they think will sell papers.

But around here in the Bible Belt those headlines are big sellers.

I don't know who is publishing the Inquirer and the Globe now but both of them have far right political stuff in them. The other weekly rags tend to stay away from politics and just go with the popular Entertainment figures.

Ellen DeGeneres is another person they are after for some reason. They print the most horrible stuff about her.

5. Remember Bill and Hillary were both successful while their repug counterparts were not

I read the CBS news article and the comments. Some of the comments were supportive but many were the same teabagger ass hats that have criticized every Democratic President and their spouses since President Kennedy.

Ronald Raygun : Iran-contra, secret agreement with Iran to not release the hostages until after the election. Ran up national debt. Attacked unions, air controllers. Massive indictments and convictions of advisers and cabinet members.

GWH Bush: Lackey, pardoned Rayguns felons, continued Raygun policies and "no new taxes". First Iraq war.

Bill Clinton: Promised reforms and delivered as many as Repugs would allow. Repugs impeachment. Still was able to create a budget surplus. Lowest unemployment rate. Able to work with and around congress. Repugs intensive effort to smear.

W Bush: Mass murderer along with all of his neo-con masters (Unfunded Iraq War, 4000 American deaths, 100,000 Iraqi deaths, 30K+ Americans injured). Destroyed budget surplus. Created economic disaster. Should have been convicted of insider trading. Puppet of right wing neo-con masters.

Barack Obama: Brought the United States out of the worst recession since the depression while having the worst congress in history. If it had not been for the first two years where there was a Democratic congress, we would be in a depression. President Obama has kept us out of conflicts in Liberia, Libya, Africa, and Egypt. His thoughtful decisions have brought back the economy and reduced the debt and unemployment rate. He had helped the LGBT community, veterans, immigrants, and low income families. He has reduced the uninsured through the ACA and all done while the teabagger congress fought him every step of the way.

These repugs and their teabaggers are going after the Bill and Hillary again. The books that are written are bought by the Koch's and other conservative organizations to be distributed to their minions to artificially get them on the best seller list. The truth has no meaning to these people.

Of course by different groups. This keeps it all in the news cycle, creating more buzz, and probably more sales for the authors.

and it's nothing but gossip to spread truth, lies or rumors about their personal lives.

Discussing connections to corporations and the 1%? That's fair game, and I would examine favors done for close Clinton aides and the operations of the various Clinton charities as well.

All that said, nominating and electing Hillary should be considered on her merits. The presidency is not a consolation prize for people who are bullied by the Right.

actions that make it clear Hillary will actually follow through on them if elected president.

Throw a big fucking monkey wrench in the TPP, or give Obama some advice about how to do an end run around GOP obstruction on an issue that would have immediate effect on average Americans.

Or dig up some dirt on one of the big dogs on Wall Street, publicize it, and DARE the attorney general not to criminally prosecute.
