Senate approves more money for Israel's Iron Dome

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) -- Divided on other issues, U.S. lawmakers united in support of Israel on Friday with the Senate approving another $225 million for the Iron Dome missile defense system.

The House could take up the measure later Friday.

Senate approval came as the chamber wrapped up work before going on its five-week summer recess.

The United States helped Israel create the missile defense system, which is credited with shooting down Hamas rockets in the current Gaza conflict.

But not a dime to help fight the fires out West or anything to deal with the border crisis!

It really isn't the US Congress is it...a better description would be the Israeli Knesset of the West!!!

Go ahead, alert on it, ban it...what the fuck ever!

When members of Congress provide funding for a foreign country over the needs of the United States...they no longer represent the American people and are no longer deserving of being Americans!!!

I feel physically sick with the knowledge that I know my tax dollars have murdered
Small innocent children in Gaza, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria...
I want my money to be used for American Children to get healthy food
And a good education, our infrastructure, our healthcare system and this makes
Us all complicit. I agree with you!

Is there anything too barbaric that Israel would do that the US wouldn't support? We twist the coverage, ignore the deliberate killing of women and children by the Iraelis, report the Israeli government lies and magnify everything bad or even questionable about the people in Gaza.

So in the middle of Israeli atrocities our congress (for some reason) finds the need to reward Israel.

So that they can continue the slaughter of civilians.
I wonder how much of that money ends up back in the pockets of our congress members.

I imagine the thinking between helping them develop Iron Dome was twofold: first, it would help develop technology to advance US missile defense projects and, second, it might allow Israel to avoid doing exactly what it has chosen to do (in other words, with an effective defense against Hamas rockets, there might be no need for a disproportionate military response).

Instead, what seems to have happened is that Israel is accepting the benefit of the system but also continuing to use the ongoing Hamas rocket attacks as justification for their operations.

I'd be happy to provide more Iron Dome money if we cut off the aid supporting offensive operations against Gaza.
