Brownback: Voters so mad at Obama they "want somebody to throw a brick"
Source: KSHB channel 41 (Kansas City)
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, who will all-but-certainly receive his party's stamp of approval to stand for reelection when the votes are counted Tuesday, offered a theory when asked why significant numbers of Republican primary voters are casting ballots against their incumbents Tuesday.
"I think a big part of it is Barack Obama. That a lot of people are so irritated at what the president is doing, they just, they want somebody to throw a brick," Brownback told 41 Action News.
Brownback said he did not believe the contentious Roberts vs. Wolf race was truly "right vs. right" at all, but rather represented an electorate desperate to express their Obama-focused anger at just about anyone, including himself.

(27,816 posts)... a plausible political answer, going Borscht Belt is always an option.
My only quibble with Brownback's statement is that the much-anticipated rim-shot was absent from the performance.

(40,416 posts)I lived in Wichita for almost two decades and was very politically active. The GOP in Kansas became increasingly and substantially theocratic, but they have had notable progressives. In fact, the last Republican I voted for (twice!) was Senator Nancy Landon Kassebaum. It was an easy decision. She was an unapologetic liberal.
But I predict that there will be another Democratic governor in Kansas elected this year. Brownback has destroyed the state. This is precisely the type of thing that gives rise to political upheaval.

(67,112 posts)really don't care what they think other than to propagandize them to try to get elected again so they can rip off more of Kansas for themselves, their cronies and also to promote/enact their horrendous beliefs. It is a shame. Many in Kansas IMO still think they are living in Eisenhower times when quite a few republicans could be trusted ... but in Kansas they even like to cast aside the moderate republicans, many of whom are quite OK. They are so brainwashed by the Koch and the Brownback regime.

(2,004 posts)Brownback is not capable of taking out the trash, let alone run a state. He has nearly destroyed Kansas, just like the GOP is doing here in Ohio.

(2,062 posts)But wasn't there a report out last week, or a few weeks ago about how Kansas has some of the worst job reports because of this governor's cutting of taxes? "Report ranks Kansas near bottom for business creation...news that the states tax collections fell $310 million short of forecasts in April and May, and came in roughly $28 million short in June.
