Sen. Deb Fischer: Lack of U.S. leadership spurs Russia's Putin

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Robynn Tysver

The world has become a far more dangerous place in the last few years, and U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., believes that President Barack Obama deserves some of the blame.

Fischer said that Obama’s lack of leadership on the global front has “emboldened” Russian President Vladimir Putin to disrupt and, possibly, attempt a takeover of Ukraine.

She also said Iraq is in danger of being overrun by a “vicious” group of terrorists, who began a military assault on the country in the wake of Obama’s fulfillment of a campaign promise to withdraw American troops from Iraq.

“I’m one who believes we haven’t seen leadership from the United States on several fronts,” said Fischer, who sat down Tuesday with The World-Herald for a far-ranging interview on the hot topics of the day.

The RW in this country has destroyed personal growth, prosperity, racial relations, continued a religious age old war on women and their right to possess their own bodies, created a war on our borders against brown people and I do wonder every day whether we're getting the true stories of what these citizen border militias are doing to people fleeing corruption and violence only to find corruption and violence here. She is out of her gourd. But then again, it seems 99.9999 of the RW, TEA PARTY, MILITIAS, citizen armed-beeeees are, ohhhhh wait, they are all the same. This country has been sliding downhill big time since JFK assassination. Anyone who thinks differently, is, according to me, out of their minds.

Republicans showing major division in foreign policy inspires Putin.
Words like you just spouted are just what Putin needs to continue his policies.

Putin and others know that Congress is dysfunctional and that the POTUS does not have a loyal opposition.

Glasses only make Republicans THINK they look smart. There is a small statistical shift due to one only ever seeing the Republicans that managed to avoid poking their eyes out when they first tried donning the glasses.

this President. Obama is not the President of the world...he is trying to be President of the US, not Russia and the rest of the world.

Putin isn't acting from a position of strength. He lost a key component of his Eurasian Union plan when he lost Ukraine. Fischer should probably stick to agricultural shit like doling out subisidies and leave world affairs to grown-ups.

I had this argument with my brother for about 4 hours while we were on vacation in Florida (the rest of the family was not amused.)

I don't agree with any of it. The whole thing is dubious. China is moving on the same trajectory as it has for the past two decades. What Russia or Putin think about the United States has jack shit to do with the political battle in Ukraine. I'm one hundred percent satisfied with how the showdown over the use of chemical weapons in Syria turned out. Syria agreed to hand over its entire stockpile without the US firing a shot. Blowing some shit up just to prove we've got big balls, as my brother and I'm sure Sen. Deb Fisher would suggest, is an idiotic idea.
