Sen. Deb Fischer: Lack of U.S. leadership spurs Russia's Putin

The world has become a far more dangerous place in the last few years, and U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., believes that President Barack Obama deserves some of the blame.
Fischer said that Obamas lack of leadership on the global front has emboldened Russian President Vladimir Putin to disrupt and, possibly, attempt a takeover of Ukraine.
She also said Iraq is in danger of being overrun by a vicious group of terrorists, who began a military assault on the country in the wake of Obamas fulfillment of a campaign promise to withdraw American troops from Iraq.
Im one who believes we havent seen leadership from the United States on several fronts, said Fischer, who sat down Tuesday with The World-Herald for a far-ranging interview on the hot topics of the day.

(7,759 posts)this President. Obama is not the President of the world...he is trying to be President of the US, not Russia and the rest of the world.

(3,811 posts)I had this argument with my brother for about 4 hours while we were on vacation in Florida (the rest of the family was not amused.)
I don't agree with any of it. The whole thing is dubious. China is moving on the same trajectory as it has for the past two decades. What Russia or Putin think about the United States has jack shit to do with the political battle in Ukraine. I'm one hundred percent satisfied with how the showdown over the use of chemical weapons in Syria turned out. Syria agreed to hand over its entire stockpile without the US firing a shot. Blowing some shit up just to prove we've got big balls, as my brother and I'm sure Sen. Deb Fisher would suggest, is an idiotic idea.
