One of the key prosecutors in the criminal case against Galleon Group founder Raj Rajaratnam is leaving government practice to join Boies, Schiller & Flexner.
Andrew Michaelson was special prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Rajaratnam case, which resulted in a conviction against the former hedge fund manager. Rajaratnam was found guilty in May of fraud and conspiracy and sentenced to 11 years in prison in October.
Michaelson joined the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2006 and returned to it in January after his stint as a special prosecutor. He will become a partner in the New York office of Boies Schiller on May 7.
