Occupy Toronto hold rally for arrested, injured protesters

Source: CBC

Occupy Toronto protesters held a rally Saturday afternoon denouncing the arrests of five of the group's members.

Four of the Occupy Toronto protesters appeared in court today after they were arrested during a clash with police on University Avenue Friday night.

Police have said that was the second time they had asked the protesters to remove their tents and gear. When they did not comply police said they had to forcibly remove them.

The two men and two women are facing a number of charges including: obstructing a peace officer, possession of marijuana and assault with intent to resist arrest.

I'm very pro union. BUT now I'm starting to believe that the police shouldn't be any more unionized than the armed forces. Thuggery, fear mongering, murder, silencing dissent, grabbing funding, and collecting revenue sounds more like a legal mafia.

Looks like Canada's Robo Cops are taking classes with ours. I read that our cops were training with the Bahrain Police and the Israeli Border Police who have been condemned by Human Rights organizations for abusing civilians. Why are OUR police training with these foreign, human rights abusers?

It seems that the police are no longer civilian or even national. The more I read about what they've been up to, it looks like there is a Global Training program for police from all the world, training them to protect the wealthy. I can our military occasionally training with foreign allies, but the Police?

I hope there is enough outrage over this to force a dismissal.

More's the pity. A lot of police here will turn a blind(ish) eye on it if the circumstances are discreet, but it can always be used as an add-on charge or even the pretext for a bust.

On edit: our cops look more like yours every day. They do the same job for the same people.

Yes, I've seen some of your cops and couldn't tell the difference between them and ours and France's and Germany's et al. Even ours did not look like something out of some of some fascist nightmare until relatively recently.

I'm not sure when they were transformed from normal cops to what look and act like some futuristic characters in some violent video game who view the civilian population as the enemy. We didn't really notice the change until the Occupy movement began.

Some Corporation is making a fortune on the robo gear they all wear though, globally. And the weapons they are being supplied with.
