Among the funds that flowed into the Wisconsin Club for Growth was $700,000 from a company trying to build a massive open-pit iron mine in northern Wisconsin. Soon after the 2012 recall and general elections, Walker and Republicans eased environmental regulations, helping the firm.
"The Governor is encouraging all to invest in the Wisconsin Club for Growth," said an April 28, 2011, email from Kate Doner, a Walker campaign consultant, to R.J. Johnson, an adviser to Walker's campaign and the advocacy group. "Wisconsin Club for Growth can accept corporate and personal donations without limitations and no donors disclosure."

The hundreds of pages of documents that became available Friday afternoon also showed Walker's team sought to solicit funds for the Wisconsin Club for Growth from an array of nationally known donors to fend off his 2012 recall. Real esate developer Donald Trump, industrialist billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, and casino mogul Sheldon Adelson were all targets.

200 years? They are out of their minds. We haven't even been able to hang on to the Voting Rights Act for 70 years or Glass-Steagall!
You're correct, this is environmental destruction for a quick buck. Maybe you should post the article!

(9,124 posts)MADISON, WI -- A report released today by One Wisconsin Now analyzing state funds distributed by the quasi-private Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), created by Gov. Scott Walker, raises serious questions about who is really benefitting. The report found that owners or employees of 30 percent of businesses receiving WEDC assistance contributed to Gov. Walker's campaign or the Republican Governors Association (RGA). Meanwhile these same businesses received almost 60 percent of WEDC economic development funds - $570 million in total.
One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross commented, "Cronyism, corruption and incompetence have been hallmarks of Gov. Walker and his administration. Nowhere is that more evident than with his signature economic development initiative, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation."

(9,740 posts)After the August Primary, the winners, Jeff Johnson, running for MN Governor went on MPR and gushed about Walker and how MN should be more like WI and follow Walker-like policies. Given that MN and the Twin Cities are blowing WI away in economic development and jobs (one of the best in the nation) I was shocked to hear him say it, he wanted a Act 10 union busting bill and everything else the WI Republicans have brought about the last 4 years.
