Democrats to vote on 2016 primary calendar plan

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

ATLANTA (AP) — Leaders of the Democratic Party are preparing to approve a plan that sets the 2016 presidential calendar. That calendar would begin with the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1, 2016, followed by voting later that month in New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

The Democratic National Committee is expected to approve a 2016 framework that’s in line with plans pushed by Republicans. Democrats are meeting Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Democrats’ plan would recommend that the New Hampshire primary be held on Feb. 9, followed by the Nevada caucuses no earlier than Feb. 20 and the South Carolina primary on Feb. 27. Other states could hold their contests from March 1 through the second Tuesday in June.

Party leaders were also voting on rules for its 2016 convention.

Sorry, but I never pay attention to where each convention will be located.

That was a week or two ago, but I assume if they'd made a decision since then we'd have heard about it.

Since even Dems say we are doomed in the Senate.

And are there any viable President candidates besides those that won't give up on Warren and/or just push Clinton?

Get some "brass".

I have never fully been behind Warren in terms of being vocal, but she would be ideal in my opinion. On Clinton, I've been quite vocal about not supporting her.

New Hampshire and Iowa will get to whine that they represent the country, even though of lot of America does NOT. Expect Florida to be yelled at AGAIN, as we get tired of being the state that is paid attention to after the deciding is done.

Ours will be May 17th unless something changes (usually Kentucky is the same day).

Florida has almost always had their primary within the first few months. In 2008 and 2012 it was in January, in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 it was March.

Assuming Florida moves its primary back to March, that will mean for six presidential races in a row it voted within the first 2 1/2 months.

I agree with you in principle about those two always going first, but realize there are states that get a hell of a lot less attention than poor Floridia.
