Obama cautions against using force to solve crises

WASHINGTON (AP) Faced with deepening crises in the Middle East and Ukraine, President Barack Obama is putting the brakes on the notion that American military power can solve either conflict.
That stance is in keeping with Obamas long-standing aversion to military entanglements. But it comes at a time when the effectiveness of his preferred options is being challenged and there are indications that some in the administration are ready to take more robust actions.
In the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Obama has relied largely on coordinated U.S. and European Union economic sanctions to try to shift Russian President Vladimir Putin (POO-tihn)s calculus. Ukraine, Egypt, and Iraq
The president does everything in a measured way, thinking of the consequences, risks rewards.
The Obama administration got bin laden, without destroying a country, and killing hundreds of thousands of people. Who would have thought?
No one talks about the dismantling and removal of chemical weapons in Syria, a huge deal.

(27,787 posts)He's said over and over that the solution in the middle east is NOT a military solution. That the military can achieve focused but limited results, but not much more in terms of creating political stability in the region.
It seems some on the left and the right, ignore any of this. The right screams for an invasion, and some on the left are sure its going to happen any second.
The run from zero to OUTRAGED in under 6 seconds.
