Ted Cruz Calls Obama A 'Kitty Cat' Next To The Russian Bear
Source: Business Insider
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who is widely seen as a potential GOP presidential candidate in 2016, gave a fiery speech on Saturday where he slammed President Barack Obama's positions on a whole host of issues.
At one point, the audience at the conservative group Americans For Prosperity's Defending The American Dream Summit in Dallas chanted "Run Ted! Run!" as Cruz blasted Obama for "lawless" immigration policies, accused the president of making the country a "kitty cat" in the face of a threat posed by Vladimir Putin's Russian "bear," and called for America to bomb the jihadist group ISIS "back to the stone age."
Cruz began his speech with a series of jokes mocking the Obama administration.
"Back in Washington there's a diet that is now very, very popular," said Cruz. "It's called the Obama Diet. Works very, very well. You simply let Putin eat your lunch every day."

So either is is an ideologue who is unwilling to face any facts that don't fit his worldview, or he is just completely cynical. I'm not sure which is worse; both are dangerous.

(111,274 posts)and tell him Obama is an intelligent diplomat who is keeping us out of the kind of stupid and unwinnable wars Republicans love to start so their military contractor buddies can clean up.
Putin looks like a man who is slowly realizing he's bitten off more than he can chew. Grabbing territory is the easy part. He forgot the lesson of Afghanistan: keeping that grabbed territory will wear you down and ultimately bankrupt you.
I hope Obama is watching closely as he considers any more military commitment to the middle east. We need to get the hell out.

And I'm not sure which is worse...dumb, or smart and callous...
Either way, he's dangerous. But let his ass run for President. It will be fun watching him lose, and then, when the Crazy Right CANNOT say, any longer, that their candidate "Just wasn't a really real Conservative Enough, and THAT'S why he lost", THEN the real work of destroying the Conservative movement can begin, because they will have to face the reality that America is probably more Left than Right, and and that means everything they have been told, and told themselves, for the last half-century is PROVABLY WRONG.
watching the searing heat of enlightenment burn through their minds that way will be the most painful day of their collective lives, and will be a most enjoyable moment for me.

(297,304 posts)when I saw this again just now.. I was thinking "kitty cat".. "well, if that's what you want to call a lion."
And, you found a vid with a lion and a bear?! I don't think I want to watch that.. but, what are they even doing in the same neck of the woods?!
BumRushDaShow
(129,096 posts)an old Disney children's action movie from '72 (that included a young Jodie Foster - she is the same age as me...lol) - "Napoleon and Samantha".
If you watch enough nature shows, you'll notice that within a pride of lions, the females are out hunting down the prey while the male is chilling on the sidelines with one eye on the cubs and the other on the ladies. But as soon as something threatening comes along to delay his meal, he'll slowly get up, stretch, and will shake himself a bit. Finally, he'll saunter over to a clearing, and will let out a roar so loud that every critter in the vicinity goes silent with a WTF?... afterwhich everything slithering, crawling, walking, running, hopping, climbing, or flying, clears out quick, fast, and in a hurry!
For 6 years, people keep underestimating Barack Obama but I always warn them not to mess with the lion!

(5,376 posts)That movie was filmed in John Day, Oregon, where I used to reside. It's a kick to watch the familiar scenery and spot a few local "extras". It also starred Michael Douglas. The bear/lion "fight" probably wasn't shot in the surrounding area, I'm guessing. Anyway, great scene and I love the info you posted about lions, and completely agree with you--don't mess with our President. His roar will be heard far and wide and the critters who underestimate him will be scattering for cover. Including the bear named Putin!
Best.

(129,096 posts)I remember watching "The Streets of San Francisco" that also came out around that time with Karl Malden & Michael Douglas. That show (plus the old Rice-A Roni commercials) made me want to get there one day, which I finally did about 10 years ago...lol). Will Geer was also in that Disney pic as well...

Even a kitty cat can be a danger if provoked and fearless... I think mr Cruz is just stupid - and jealous he have no possibility to even be in the white house - if he is not been invited by the current occupant...
And I also think President Obama do it the right way - being levelheaded and cool -instead of going on a rampage who might loose he more friends than the former occupant of the White house did in just a few years back between 2001-2008 - it took years of minding to get the old friends of europe - you know they who was cowards for not getting along on the war against Iraq to trust US fully again....
And I think Obama comparative to the republicans know how acute the situation was - and is - and want to keep it low key - and then surprise all by doing it the right way...
And no - I do not think Cruz is the Crumpy Cat - the Crumpy cat is far to kind to be Cruz - and I suspect even the Crumpy Cat would have accepted Obama as a friend - mostly because most cats know who to trust and not..

(8,964 posts)Cruz would have no problem bringing his own vision of Putin's repression, uber-nationalsim, and militarism to this country. He cannot come out and proclaim this directly, so the workaround is rhetoric that places Putin in a superior light compared to President Obama.

(8,200 posts)I realize that the nation has suffered in the past from extremism.
However, the conservative faction of the GOP has moved far from a position of reasoned honest debate of the issues to obstructionism. . Obama's election open the flood gate of extremist Right Wing propaganda of unbridled hatred. They have played on the ignorance and fear of the working White Class that they are in jeopardy of losing their privileged place in society. Unfortunately, their ignorance coupled with deep seated racism prevents them from comprehending that they are nothing more than pawns and their privileged status is nothing more than a delusion.
It is not unreasonable to compare what is taking place in America with what transpired in the 1930's in Germany. The leadership of he Republican Party, rather than denouncing the extremists message of hatred and division, have embraced the polarization that it has breed. I don't know if I will be around to see if someone can emerge to right the ship before it completely flounders. It is a sad realization that large segment of citizens' of our nation doesn't have the maturity to accept that an African-American, regardless of their demonstrated accomplishments, can lead the nation.

June 13, 2006Perhaps not since the Cowardly Lion has an animal's appearance been so at odds with its attitude.
On June 4 a black bear wandered into a West Milford, New Jersey, back yard, was confronted by a 15-pound (7-kilogram) tabby cat
and fled up a neighbor's tree. Hissing at the base of the tree, Jack the clawless cat kept the bear at bay for about 15 minutes, then ran him up another tree after an attempted escape.
Finally, Jack's owner, Donna Dickey, called the cat inside, and the timorous trespasser disappeared back into the woods.
"He doesn't want anybody in his yard," Dickey said of Jack in an interview with the Newark Star Ledger.
