Wingnut Oathkeepers Cop Dan Page Retires With Full Pension

Source: Crooks And Liars

One less reactionary cop on the street, and now he's free to join his militia pals wherever he wants.

The cop who pushed Don Lemon on the streets of Ferguson and gave a rambling, racist, reactionary speech to the Oathkeepers has retired with a full pension, effective Monday, August 25th.

Before everyone shakes their fist at the fact that he retired without a reduction to his earned pension, remember that the pension is earned. I don't begrudge the guy his pension or even his opinions. I just don't want him policing people with that attitude, so good riddance.

Now he can retire comfortably and join his wingnut pals doing whatever those lunatics are going to do. But while they rail about unions and their evils, Page should be careful to remember that the reason he's not on the street is because his union negotiated for a decent retirement plan for him.

I knew some very wealthy cops in my home town. Retired from Navy. Retired from USPO and retired from PD.

and the government that worked to make their life a success story, they trash with their words and their votes.

All because of the ones they don't want to have the chances they had. They talk as if they did it all alone. Most of those they despise paid and still pay for their lifestyle.

Those are the most Ugly Americans there are.

anytime soon.

I see a lot of people here making a big deal about his retiring and receiving his pension. I don't have a problem with his receiving his pension ... assuming he's vested, his pension was earned and something he paid into over the years.

denying him his pension means that I (tax-payers) have to carry him in the social safety net ... money that could go to people without resources, that are denied because of a Must Punish mentality that seems foreign to me as a liberal.

under the color of authority and that is enough for me.

Edited to add: I hope he makes good use of his medical benefits and gets the psychiatric help he is obviously in need of.

I suspect that he will not see any of this about what HE did ... so he will not see the need for counseling or self-reflection.

Or words to that effect. Hope his militia pals give him a wide berth. I'm thinking no one's really safe around that nut case. Time will tell, I guess...
