Henry Kissinger: Iran 'A Bigger Problem Than ISIS'
Source: The Huffington Post
Former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that Iran "is a bigger problem than ISIS."
In an interview with NPR that was released on Saturday, Kissinger explained that because Iran has a stronger footing in the Middle East, it has a greater opportunity to create an empire.
"The borders of the settlement of 1919-'20 are essentially collapsing," he said. "That gives Iran a very powerful level from a strategic point of view. I consider Iran a bigger problem than ISIS. ISIS is a group of adventurers with a very aggressive ideology. But they have to conquer more and more territory before they can became a strategic, permanent reality. I think a conflict with ISIS important as it is is more manageable than a confrontation with Iran.

(9,000 posts)there is no way they could control that area by force without paying a heavy price. They are way better off giving support to friendly governments.
And who says they want an empire...Our own little empire builder himself. The problem with the insane is that they think everybody else is insane.

(3,888 posts)I believe that Kissinger is a convicted war criminal in relation to his role the in the overthrow of the Chilean government, in 1973, and subsequent crimes committed by the Pinochet government.
It appears that what the bulk of us see as problematic (the repetition of horrible episodes in history) the ruling classes see as successes. Otherwise we would not be repeating them.

(2,959 posts)statement Henry K has made about this subject.Never forget these artificial borders were foisted upon the locals by the victorious and ever arrogant British and French governments with the help of their allies at Versailles in1919.
I believe loosely organized insurgent groups pose more of a threat than most organized nation's armies but I'm not a tenured professor or international relations whore, i mean consultant. I've just managed to live through the era when Henry was doing his dirtiest work.

A stupid question or proposition only answered by a reckless , foolish and tragic answer, "we would be able to totally obliterate them."
That's a piss poor way to build relations.
I know Hillary is going to run, her answer about waiting until after the 1st of Jan to decide, is just bullshit.
I do hope the Democratic Party comes up with a much better, forward thinking candidate and potential President.

(2,574 posts)Robert Parry's written about this for years. Recent release of more Nixon tapes implicate Kissinger even more conclusively.
Considering how how many tens of thousand more Americans & hundreds of thousands of Southeast Asians died in the next 6 years after Nixon-Kissinger were elected based on this treachery, this definitely qualifies as one of the most heinous crimes of the 20th century.
