Immigration protest cancelled over 'death threats from Mexican cartels'

•Shut Down All Ports of Entry meant to target 17 crossings
•Organiser: ‘It was a cartel threatening a bloodbath’

Jessica Glenza in New York
theguardian.com, Saturday 20 September 2014 16.38 EDT

Conservative activists who planned to protest against illegal immigration and President Obama’s immigration policies on Saturday said they had canceled all events after receiving death threats from Mexican drug cartels.

Activists had planned to use vehicles as barricades to shut down border crossings at 17 locations in four states – Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas. But the event, called Shut Down All Ports of Entry, was canceled early on Saturday morning by organizer Stasyi Barth, who said she had received the threats.

In August, a similar protest was canceled after organizers claimed they had been threatened by Mexican drug cartels. The organizer of that 30-vehicle “Border Convoy”, Eric Odom, canceled a rally meant for El Paso in Texas but did not specify which cartel might have threatened his group.

“We had to cancel that because of death threats against our crew and convoy,” he told the Guardian. “We’re not into that. We are a very peaceful convoy and we want to show that the border is very dangerous and open.”

Antigovernment Group Tries to Organize Mass Shutdown of Ports of Entry on U.S.-Mexico Border
By David Neiwert on September 15, 2014 - 4:10 pm

A self-described coalition of antigovernment groups is hoping to organize yet another attempt at shutting down the U.S.-Mexico border at major commercial crossings this weekend, calling the event “Shut Down All Ports of Entry”.

Previous attempts at shutting down traffic at key border crossings this spring have ended in spectacular failure—notably radio host Pete Santilli’s attempt to shut down the crossing in Tijuana with bikers, as well as the “Border Convoy” last month, which culminated in a only a brief interruption at Brownsville, Texas.

But this particular attempt, scheduled to take place Saturday, has set off warnings among law enforcement personnel, including a local sheriff’s office in Texas and Border Patrol officials, who say they are prepared for just such an attempt.

A spokesman for event told Hatewatch that, despite concerns, the protest will not be violent or involve any radical behavior. “We have told everybody that’s called, keep your military gear, your rifles, and that stuff at home,” Rob Chupp said in a phone interview. “This is not a military operation, this is a peaceful protest.”

The group’s Facebook page details their plans:

We are a representation of Americans who are unsettled and deeply concerned with our current Administration, in all branches of Federal and State governments. Our mission is to Shut Down, every United States’ Port of Entry on the Southern Border, until our Goals are met.

No, they stayed home 'cause, " If I can't gear up, so I look like a real soldier or open-carry my highly customized AK-47 which I built from a stock-box SKS, but now it looks cool, why bother going?".

If they can't wear their costumes they just look like a bunch of frustrated, pudgy, middle-aged white dudes. What's the point to that?

Daily Kos: Bundy Ranch 'Security Chief' Kicks Oath Keepers OFF Bundy Ranch -- LMFAO

Yes, that is title of the article filed by TeamSarah4Choice at DK. This is a wild and crazy read.

Well ... paradise can only last so long before the new song turns to "Trouble In Paradise."

It all started on Friday (April 25) paranoid Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, got "intel" from a "source of intelligence of high value" within the Department of Defense who told them that "Eric Holder approved a hot drone strike on the Bundy ranch within 48 hours."

LMFAO "source of intelligence of high value"

Oh, but the delusional drone strike blah blah is not where trouble in paradise began. No, trouble in paradise began when Stewart Rhodes said he would have to "evacuate all of his Oath Keepers that have been stationed down" at the Bundy Ranch - and that is what pissed off Booda Bear, who is "head of security" for the Bundy Ranch.

And last but not least:

Militia Efforts to Converge at the Border Fizzle Out

...And then there was militia enthusiast Dyna DeRien, who posts at YouTube as 1HellOnHeels and calls herself the “CEO and founder” of “the American Anti-Federalist Patriot Party.”

After Davis yanked all his videos from the Internet, hers were the only videos remaining on the web describing the militia plan of attack and the motivation for turning out on the border.

“We’re tired of those SOBs in Washington D.C. bringing all these illegals into our country and just spreading ‘em out with all their diseases all over the place,” she said.

A day later, that rant had been taken down, too.

But it was caught by Hatewatch first:

How drunk could that Dyna DeRien have been, anyway, to make that video? God is their General at the border? Didn't know "God" is also racist!

Can't begin to grasp what motivates these clowns. How does anyone get this crazy? As long as they are so destructive, and easily led, they can be used for any evil cause by the ones who don't want to get their hands dirty, or ruin their own reputations.

Thank you, so much for these great links!

It's why I get a bit hot under the color at the 'I'm too good to vote' meme.

I can't afford to be ruled by racist, ignorant crazy people. They want our agenda to make our nation better, destroyed.

The fact that the GOP is fighting to keep us from voting and Democrats are encouraging it, says a lot about the two parties.

None of the elections should be close at all! It's a nightmare.

How could they not have figured it out, already, if not long, long ago.

Doesn't seem possible they could be this stupid. Their last President degraded our country so wildly we're only now just getting back to where we were before he stole the Presidency. The taxpayers can't afford greedy, stupid Republicans.

Chicken shits....I live and work along the border, the drug cartels always threaten kidnap and murder but they don't call you first. Brownsville/Matamoros is very safe and tranquil lots of money and well educated for centuries. The citizens would make the militia wish they had never come here to disrupt our lives and commerce.

Screw the chicken shits, we have a very good monolingual county jail.

OMFG these people are lazy, stupid and bigoted.

What a great voting block, they can't even figure out basic logic.

Why don't they just say 'brown people' instead of illegal. Besides, who's the illegal immigrant in this case, anyway?

Did the natives give their ancestors forms to fill out when they came to the Americas years ago?

Simple answer: NO!
