ANCHORAGE, Alaska Alaska will begin accepting marriage applications from same-sex couples Monday after a federal judge struck down the states ban on gay marriage one of the first two states to prohibit same-sex weddings.

The state will begin accepting applications Monday morning, Phillip Mitchell, with the state Department of Vital Statistics, told The Associated Press in an email. Alaska has a three-day waiting period between applications and marriage ceremonies.

(29,503 posts)yesterday, I just had it on for no good reason, just was flipping through the channels, and as part of their ongoing coverage of the lives of those 3 or 4 families who live and survive in Alaska, turns out they document the lives of a married lesbian couple and their cow farm. When one of them revealed that to the camera, I was suddenly interested, lol.
Not really appropo of the topic of this thread, I suppose, but anyway, I'm K&R this thread.

(17,656 posts)The appeal goes to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the very same appeals court that overturned Nevada and Idaho's laws banning gay marriages in those states just last week!!!
Gay marriages may take place in Idaho as early as Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
