Anthony Brown, Larry Hogan trade attacks in 2nd Maryland gubernatorial debate

Source: Washington Post

Democrat Anthony G. Brown and Republican Larry Hogan on Monday sharply questioned each other’s credibility on economic issues and managing state spending, part of a fractious gubernatorial debate that also included attacks on gun laws, funding for pre-kindergarten and Maryland’s troubled health insurance exchange.

Hogan, an Anne Arundel County businessman, charged that Brown, the state’s lieutenant governor, had undergone an election-year conversion in his advocacy for tax cuts for the middle class and efforts to improve the state’s climate for small businesses.

“He’s been killing small and entrepreneurial businesses for the last eight years,” Hogan, who has campaigned almost exclusively on economic issues, said of Brown during the debate. Turning directly to Brown, he added: “The economy’s a mess, and everyone in Maryland seems to know it but you.”

Brown countered that Hogan’s promise to cut taxes is dependent on a cost-savings plan in which the numbers “just don’t add up.”

Maryland's economy is one of the best in the country. Granted, there are some parts of Maryland that need help, like western MD. But, I'll take our AAA bond rating over a right-wing paradise like Kansas.

I live in Maryland and Hogan can't and won't say if he would further raise the federal/state minimum wage, expand to a single payer health system to reduce costs, reduce public education school room size to accommodate less children in the class to get more attention from the instructor for a better education for the student.
Hogan says that Maryland's economy is a mess (prove it).
We are not like New Jersey (ranked 42nd in job growth), (Wisconsin ranks 50th) all led by right wing republican governors and there Club for Growth programs that supports Andy Harris, which Hogan wants to emulate.
Andy Harris has not introduced "ONE" bill in Congress in 2013 to become law, not "ONE" and Hogan will not introduce one bill, except, introduce the same old tired right wing mantra to cut taxes to create jobs---right.
Look at what we have gotten with trickle down Reagan economics, not much, except more power to the corporate elite.
We have a Congressman by the name of Andy Harris that voted to shut down the federal government and cost the taxpayers over 25 million in taxpayer resources, like education, health care.
And in the last 90 days he (Harris) will have been on vacation 77 of those days making $174,000 a year, which is inexcusable, Hogan will try and shut this state government down if he is elected, just like Harris did.
