Republican TV ads picturing Brad Ashford and Nikko Jenkins side-by-side continued to roil the Omaha-area race for Congress on Sunday, with two local Republicans denouncing the ads in a press conference called by Ashfords campaign.
Stu Dornan, the former Douglas County attorney, and George Mills, a former county board member, used words such as fear-mongering, inappropriate, and over the top to describe the ads being run by the National Republican Congressional Committee, calling on Congressman Lee Terry to get the ads pulled from the air.
The ads are illustrative of whats wrong with Washington and why we need a change of leadership, Mills said. When you feel youre down in the polls and your numbers are not good, you try anything.
Terry campaign said it had no intention of asking the NRCC to pull the ad.

(6,943 posts)Sadly, this sort of ad seems to be the norm this year. I can't remember a year in which the ads were so vile, OS.

This race is so close according to the polls, it may come down to absentee ballots and a recount.

ROUNDUP: MEMBERS OF CONGRESSMAN LEE TERRYS OWN PARTY ARE DISGUSTED BY HIS SMEAR CAMPAIGN
OMAHA (October 20, 2014) The vicious and fear-mongering ads that Congressman Lee Terrys allies have been running have reached a new low in Nebraska politics. Even members of Congressman Terrys own party think that hes gone way too far. Over the past four days Republicans in Nebraska and across the country are slamming Terrys ads as inappropriate, racist, and completely unacceptable:
Friday, October 17
Tom Becka, Host of The Tom Becka Show, 1290 KOIL
What the Republicans are doing to Brad Ashford I think is wrong to put Brad Ashfords picture next to Nikko Jenkins picture I believe is unconscionable.
Saturday, October 18
Michael Steele, Former RNC Chairman
to put it in this frame, says something very racist in my view.
Sunday, October 19
George Mills, former Douglas County Commissioner
These ads are illustrative of whats wrong with Washington.
Stu Dornan, former Douglas County Attorney
To say that Brad Ashford is in any way responsible for anything thats happened in this community other than good things is simply inappropriate.
Monday, October 20:
Dan Frei, Congressman Lee Terrys Primary Opponent
We should expect more from our party than the strategy of negative campaigning and the politics of personal destruction Is this what the Republican Party has become?
Republicans and Independents have supported Brad throughout the entire campaign, but the response weve gotten since Congressman Terry and his allies in Washington put up their shameful ads has been overwhelming, said Kurt Gonska, Brad Ashfords Campaign Manager. Members of Congressman Terrys own party are disgusted by how low hes willing to stoop to save his political career and $174,000 salary. Enough is enough.

(18,791 posts)That was my feeling when I looked up the freak Jenkins...wow, freak and nuts.
So the Pukes just put the two next to each other? If people believe any of that, they don't deserve to vote.
Skeezy.
