Franken Blasts Ted Cruz On Net Neutrality: He's 'Completely Wrong' (video)

Last edited Sun Nov 16, 2014, 12:56 PM - Edit history (1)

(snip)

"He has it completely wrong and he just doesn't understand what this issue is," Franken said about Cruz on CNN's "State of the Union."

"We have had net neutrality the entire history of the Internet. So when he says this is the ObamaCare, ObamaCare was a government program that fixed something, that changed things," Franken explained. "This is about reclassifying something so it stays the same. This would keep things exactly the same that they've been."

CNN host Candy Crowley also asked Franken about the argument that net neutrality would keep Internet providers from innovating.

"That's baloney," the senator responded. "They've been doing this all along. They've been doing this since the beginning of the the Internet. This isn't going to stop this. All this stop them from doing is making a whole bunch of extra money. But this is not going to stop them from -- from wiring the country."

Because it would have made it a slam-dunk for the Repugs to come out solidly FOR it.

all my computers at home are connected by ethernet, not wi-fi. Only cell phones are wi-fi.

Go do a speed test and see what you are missing by connecting wi-fi.

Inside though, the world and reality is all about them and their goals. Nothing and Nobody else matters.
Some Psychopaths have been pretty damn good about pulling it off. IMO, Ted just isn't smart enough. He plays the game, like poker, but has too many "Tells".

so many of our Dem senators stay away from the TV talking heads. Sen. Franklin has been as quite as a mouse.

Like the one in my state who just lost - I know more and heard more from Elizabeth Warren than either one of my two Dem senator(s) in 6 and 4 years.

I could be wrong, but I don't think he's ever been interviewed by anyone other than the media in Minnesota. He kept a low profile and quietly went about his business.

Now that he has won re-election (handily so) it's time for him to "come out of the weeds" and start hammering on the right.

our other Dem Senator and was head of the DSCC made his first TV appearance on Dem bloodbath night for the first time on MSNBC - Rachel's show.

He has spent time over at CNN and FOX.

He and Udall refused to come talk to David Sirota when he had a radio show here, but they'd run over to the wingnut radio stations.

Not talking to their base and always trying to appear moderate by hanging with the nuts is infuriating and it pisses me off.

He's not crazy or stupid -- he's cunning and clever. The problem with Cruz is that he's utterly dishonest.

Every word he says is a conscious deliberate lie to deceive the rubes in order to achieve political power.

He's a dangerous demagogue. We're lucky that he's so goddam smarmy.

Ted Cruz seems to have forgotten about Enron.

All of Californians served by private companies were being charged exorbitant prices for electricity thanks to the cheating and fraud of Enron, a basically unprincipled Texas company that deliberately set out to cheat and defraud Californians and others.

All of Californians SERVED BY PRIVATE COMPANIES. THOSE OF US SERVED BY THE LOS ANGELES PUBLICLY CONTROLLED WATER AND POWER COMPANY WERE NOT CHEATED AND DEFRAUDED.

Ted Cruz has his facts wrong. Our public company provided our electricity for less and was honest about it. Private, corporate greed is not always the best way to provide basic services to people.

Sometimes it is. Sometimes it is not.

And Franken is right. Net neutrality is the status quo. It should remain the status quo. We don't need to change to fast-track for the big guys. Fast track for the big guys will IMPEDE innovation even under Ted Cruz's own rather faulty reasoning.

Cruz either doesn't understand or what I believe, he is purposely lieing using scare tactics to confuse the American people. Cruz is just another lieing, thieving, cheating, stealing republican killer of America. He like ALL republicans and 80% of the democrats (DINO) want to ruin America.

Confuse the issue, then have Fox news push their point of view 24/7 for a week or two. The baggers will fall into line ....cuz freedom.
