Sec. of HHS Burwell: 100,000 People Have Submitted Obamacare Applications

Source: TPM

Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Matthews Burwell on Sunday said that 100,000 people have submitted applications for Obamacare during the new open enrollment period.

On NBC's "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd also asked Burwell about comments made by MIT professor Jonathan Gruber, who helped draft the Affordable Care Act, which surfaced recently. Gruber said the law passed due to a "lack of transparency" and called American voters stupid.

"I have to start with how fundamentally I disagree with his comments about the bill and about the American people," Burwell responded. "Since I've been at the department, one of the things that I've focused on is transparency, making sure that all our numbers coming out, whether they're good or bad. And the other thing is that the law is based on the issues of transparency and belief in the American people and choices in the marketplace."

Maryland rebuilt our state exchange using the same system as Connecticut. They're also doing a phased roll out this time so its not everyone at once, starting with certain offices and licensed navigators to help people. The ACA implementation is going along much more smoothly in the states that want it.
