Outfitter who maimed prey for clients sentenced
| November 21, 2014 | Updated: November 21, 2014 11:29am

DENVER (AP) — A western Colorado outfitter who captured and maimed mountain lions and bobcats to make hunting easier for clients has been sentenced to more than two years in prison.

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service announced that 56-year-old Christopher W. Loncarich of Mack was sentenced to 27 months in prison and three years' probation for illegally killing wildlife.

Loncarich sold bobcat and mountain lion hunts for up to $7,500.

Authorities say he and his assistants would locate cats prior to a client's arrival and then "shorten up" the hunt by caging the animals, then releasing them when the client was present. Sometimes cats were shot in the paws or stomach.

Loncarich also took people who didn't have Utah licenses on hunts in Utah.

From Hunting Report:

Lion Hunting With Loncarich

Published: January - 2002

Chris Loncarich of Loncarich Guides and Outfitter has developed quite a hunting niche for himself. Loncarich runs mountain lion hunts along the Utah and Colorado borders, where he offers clients the realistic opportunity of killing two lions on the same trip - one in each state. And, although these are six-day hunts, most of his clients fill their tags out in less time, so it's possible to kill two cats and stick to a reasonable hunt schedule.
Loncarich's home is just a stone's throw from the country he hunts in both states, so he's quite familiar with the area and the cats. And, there are plenty of cats. Be ready, of course, to cover lots of ground. Loncarich likes to hunt the Book Cliffs, a 150-mile mountain range that spans both Utah and Colorado, so it's entirely possible to jump a lion in one state and have the chase extend into the other. For those who only want to hunt one cat, Loncarich will hunt areas where there's no danger of the lion crossing into the other state.

Last year, Loncarich produced lions for most of his hunters. The only client who left without a lion hide missed a treed cat at 40 yards with a scoped rifle - that's the life of an outfitter! As for trophy size, Loncarich says that although his clients didn't take cats that would score in the record book last season, some of them were huge. Two stretched the tape to nine feet. A cat like that will make a spectacular mount. For those interested in measurements, he says that most cougars killed will have skulls ranging from 14½ to 15 points. That's a mature lion anywhere, and the frosting on this cake is that most clients go home with a tom.

This scum bag thinks that a animal is ranked by point system how convenient, and the price was 7500, to further add insult to the animal he would shoot them prior to the big hunt, what a piece of s***t.
Did any of the "HUNTERS" get jail time for this criminal activity they are and should be held responsible, 27 months is not long enough, he had better lost his gun rights and home:

an outfitter in Wyoming treed a good sized mountain lion, then
got on the phone with a ONE PERCENTER in Chicago who jumped on
his private plane, flew out to Wyoming, and shot the lion that was
still up in the tree.

There are quite a few hunting parks in the US, including Texas, where you pay to shoot animals in relatively confined areas.
Some of these camps use imported and rare animals from all over the globe.
Fish in a barrel shooting at high prices.
Sigh.

cowardly, lame, selfish, fucked up dirty sons of bitches. Please, Anonymous, go after these assholes.

I don't have a container big enough to hold the hate I feel for these kinds of fucks. If there was any justice these bastards would be air dropped in the middle of a cage of hungry wildlife. See how they like it when it isn't a fair fight.

NO excuse for animal abuse. NONE. I lack sufficient ways to tell these assholes to go fuck themselves with a bayonet.

Very angry.

Perhaps a ball and chain or shackles to slow them down. More "sporting" for the bobcats, don'tcha know.

I've never killed anything other then the odd insect and even then more often by accident then by choice. However I just dont see how what this guy did comes even close to as terrible as factory farming, which of course of totally legal.

We live in factory farm America, but people think this guy should spend more time in jail or get the death penalty on this thread? I just think people should prioritize their outrage. If you eat a burger at a regular American joint a few times a week you have almost as much blood and torture on your hands as he does.
