Weekly Address: Happy Thanksgiving from the Obama Family

Source: White House

On behalf of the Obama family -- Michelle, Malia, Sasha, Bo, and Sunny -- I want to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving. Like many of you, we'll spend the day with family and friends, catching up, eating some good food and watching a little football. Before we lift a fork, we lend a hand by going out in the community to serve some of our neighbors in need. And we give thanks for each other, and for all of God's blessings.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because, more than any other, it is uniquely American. Each of us brings our own traditions and cultures and recipes to the table -- but we all share this day, united by the gratitude for the bounty of this nation. And we welcome the contributions of all people -- no matter their origin or color or beliefs -- who call America home, and who enrich the life of our nation. It is a creed as old as our founding: "E pluribus unum" -- that our of many, we are one.

President actually has fun, spends time with family, does something traditional on a cherished American holiday.

You know what the radio hacks will say?

Communist oppressor.

last night, i watched an episode of the reboot of the series "Hawaii Five-O" (used to watch the original series but had never watched the new one), and CBS re-aired the Thanksgiving episode from last year that believe it or not, had a plot revolving around the President's expected visit to Hawaii for Thanksgiving (and the episode guest-starred Carol Burnett, who I hadn't see in something for years - I don't watch much if any network TV anymore)... Of course for a show that is supposed to take place in Hawai'i, they couldn't pass this by. And in the episode, after a Secret Service agent was found dead ahead of the arrival, it became a race to find a potential assassin. Of course we all know how these sorts of stories end but what they did near the end was to show AirForce One on the tarmac, the door opens, and just as 2 legs come into view, the scene cuts away.

Anyway - the GOP needs a new schtick or better, no schtick at all. Whatever they come up with continues their descent into total lunacy. And they may think that they are just playing games with their gullible listeners, but after awhile, they will start really believing their own crap, and that will be the end of them.

Yup, the Obama girls' dresses at the turkey pardoning show that the Obamas "don't respect our nation."

Fortunately, that one was met with a horrific backlash.
