Mercury Marine and union extend contract

Source: Fox 11

FOND DU LAC – Mercury Marine has agreed to a contract extension through 2021 with the International Association of Machinists Lodge 1947.

Members of the IAM Lodge 1947 voted for the five-year extension Sunday. While the current contract was not set to expire until summer 2016, recent discussions pushed to a vote on an extension.

The contract will stand through August 28, 2021. Complete details will not be disclosed but the agreement includes wage increases, ratification bonuses and wellness initiatives.

It was only 5 years ago that Mercury Marine planned to move manufacturing to Oklahoma, due to economy and low sales. Union concessions and incentives from local and state governments convinced the company to stick around in Wisconsin. Since 2008, the company has had numerous expansions.

Gov Walker needs to point out the union took concessions, Mercury Marine got help from the state, and kept those jobs in WISCONSIN. OK so he will claim it was all Gov Walker's doing.
