St Louis Bosnian woman who claimed hate crime charged with making false report

ST. LOUIS • A Bosnian immigrant has been charged with making a false police report after claiming three black teenagers threatened to kill her in the Bevo Mill neighborhood because of her ethnicity.

Police said Monday that a surveillance video from a nearby business shows Seherzada Dzanic, 26, of the 4400 block of Gannett Street, just get out of her car and lie in the street shortly before a passing driver found her Dec. 5.

At the time, Dzanic told police three black men in their late teens to early 20s had walked in front of her vehicle about 5:25 a.m. along the 4600 block of Lansdowne Avenue. She said one of them pulled a gun on her when she tried to pass them, then opened her passenger door and went through her purse.

She also told police that one of the men pushed her to the ground, kicked her and had asked where she was from. She said she told them she was European.

“You’re a (expletive) liar. You’re Bosnian. I should just kill you now,” she claimed they told her, according to an account at the time by St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson.

That's an interesting thread.

And I hope I'm wrong - but now I don't believe that his death was even remotely race related.

Someone is making it up.

And if it was a hate crime - and he had not done anything to have put himself in the line of fire - I still think it's more likely because he was a Muslim.

Re- Not done anything . . . why was he around those guys? Was he into drugs? Was he a dealer? Before we say 'hate crime' I want to know his background.

All we have gotten in THAT case is a white wash powder puff job from the media and his family.

They've painted HIM like a saint - and I don't believe that.

I just don't . . .

I'm not believing these hate crimes against Bosnian things anymore .

the police said that right from the start.

The second one, the fake one, they did treat as a hate crime, I think they were talking about a federal investigation.

That the first one 'was' a hate crime. So you can end up with a snowball effect.

It's imperative -on the graves of Matthew Shephard(don't believe the meth sex exchange story as the SOLE reason for his death) and James Byrd - that folks don't lie about these things.

that makes me bad company in comments threads, but we all bear our burdens.

Thank goodness folks do not rush to judgment these days, the Internet has made communication and knowledge much better.

She could have caused violent confrontations between blacks & the Bosnian community, which are already stressed by the recent killing of a Bosnian man, for which a black has been charged. If such elaborate, sociopathic lying and gaming the justice system are so ingrained in her world view, deport her. The report should have included her immigration status.

would be able to pinpoint someone as "Bosnian" to commit a hate crime.

Most American teenagers' (or even adults') discerning of ethnicities stops at white, black, native american, asian and mexican -- if that.
