US Rep. Grimm Pleads Guilty to Federal Tax Evasion

Source: ABC News quoting AP

U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm admitted Tuesday to federal tax evasion, pleading guilty to charges he had fought as he won re-election last fall but that now leave his congressional future in question.

Grimm entered a guilty plea to one count of aiding in the filing of a false tax return. He had been set to go to trial in February on charges of evading taxes by hiding more than $1 million in sales and wages while running a Manhattan health-food restaurant.

Sentencing was scheduled for June 8. Prosecutors said a range of 24 to 30 months in prison would be appropriate, while the defense estimated the appropriate sentence as between 12 and 18 months.

Boehner does not plan to comment on Grimm's situation until the two discuss it, Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said.

The House, however, can determine who it does or does not seat. I'll wager that's what he and the Speaker will be discussing.

He should have gone straight to prison. It's not like he was convicted by a jury and there would be appeals. He ADMITTED he committed a felony.

And it's not sure he'll resign.

What has this world come to?

Discuss it, why?
What's there to discuss?
Why spend tax payers dollars to discuss a conviction, he's already been discussed and a jury found him guilty.
Lets see him march into a detention center he was one of the obnoxious, arrogant self righteous right wing hypocrites he really was. And saying it was 'liberal" plot to get him, he was delusional and thought he was above the law.
Him, telling a news reporter he was going to throw him over the rail in Congressional building for asking him a question about the investigation.
If I were the reporter I would go ask him do you have anything to say?
What color is your new uniform white, green orange, what size slippers do you wear.

They are out there in RWNJ world, arguing that Holder, Obama etc., are talking about calming down.

BUT - WHAT are they thinking (says GOP radio).

So (RWNJ world) claims to know what Obama "really" means....

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.
And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?”

Congress members CAN censure, and even send him packing if they choose, but the charge iis not an automatic loss of his seat.
since what he did fell smack dab in the middle of Republican values, they will most likely pat him on the back.

Wonder what charge would be automatic...hmmm.
