RED BANK Jon Bon Jovi is showing his support for police following the killings of two New York City police officers.
The singer wore an NYPD football T-shirt during the Bobby Bandiera and Friends Hope Concert in Red Bank on Monday.
The Asbury Park Press reports Bon Jovi told the crowd he was showing "a little solidarity" for the NYPD and all those who protect and serve.
Bon Jovi also performed "The Letter" in memory of raspy-voiced British singer Joe Cocker, who died on Monday.

(5,402 posts)seem to think that any show of restraint from demonizing all police officers or (God forbid) questioning any "proof", just means you are a racist Nazi.
These days, it's a pop culture of attacking civil servants (from police to teachers), whether the attacker is on the left or the right of a political spectrum.

(72,790 posts)I have no issue with anyone supporting the fallen officers. They didn't deserve to die, imo.

(22,000 posts)But I hope Sambora rejoins Bon Jovi. It really isn't the same with out the three of them. I was lucky enough to see them back in April 2003 and can say it was an extraordinary show. I even got to high-five Jon.

The band's roots to NJ and NY cops and first responders run quite deep. Here's Jon with guitarist Richie Sambora for 9/11 (note their T-shirts):
The day after I learned that I was getting laid off at work, I also learned that Bon Jovi would be performing a $90-a-ticket benefit for a slain New Jersey state trooper. I had the money to spare and was glad to help--but with my future income in danger, I suddenly didn't have the money to spare. What to do?
Having succeeded at getting a ticket online, I took a morning off and went on three job interviews. The concert was on a Friday, and I had an extra good time because I'd been able to make a contribution to a worthy cause that I could afford: I would be starting a new job that Monday!
