Group with ties to Hillary Clinton files ethics complaint against Chris Christie for Dallas trip
Source: NJ.com
TRENTON A Democratic group with ties to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton today filed a complaint with the New Jersey State Ethics Commission over Gov. Chris Christies recent trip to Dallas to root for the Cowboys.
American Democracy Legal Fund wants the commission to investigate whether the governor violated state ethic rules by accepting gifts from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones including a flight for Christie and his family on a private jet. The group has close ties to American Bridge, a pro-Democratic group that conducts opposition research on Republicans.
They argue the flight and seats inside the owners luxury box at NFL games violated state rules because Jones is a part-owner of a hospitality company Legends Hospitality that was awarded a lucrative Port Authority of New York and New Jersey hospitality services contract, according to published reports.
Given Mr. Jones own personal business relationship with the Port Authority which is partially controlled by Governor Christie, it appears Governor Christies acceptance of gifts from Mr. Jones violates (state ethic rules), reads the complaint filed by Brad Woodhouse, treasurer for American Democracy Legal Fund.

(67,782 posts)Unfortunately, since this group has ties (regardless of how loose they may be, it remains to be seen) this will be scoffed at as a political move.

(5,082 posts)Sickening and Disgusting. Don't you see? The Clintons are surrogates for Jeb Bush. That's the real story. I despise Christie. But I fear the evil of the Bush family that the Clintons are obviously members of.

(5,082 posts)They are basically the default candidate if Bush loses. Bill only won in '92 because Ross Perot saw what was happening and took Bush Sr out. They all work for Wall St which want a controlled election of Bush vs Clinton with Bush the preferred candidate and Clinton the backup in their pocket. The Clintons and Jeb need to get rid of Christie and Warren.

(5,315 posts)I actually think the Bushes set this trap. Jerry Jones, a Texassian, is likely a Bush supporter. Consider that he invited Chrisie to the game knowing that it would create controversy seeing The fat man make an ass of himself in the booth on national tv. Remember Fox controlled the camera shots. One more negative for Christie and less of a problem for Jeb. I'm sure Jerry promised a big free buffet to sweeten the trap. Ya think?????

(2,157 posts)This group has ties to lots of Democrats, & why the hell does it matter who they have ties to at least they have the balls to call Gov Christie out on this as opposed to allowing him a free pass...When it comes to a sitting Governor & likely 2016 Republican candidate for President violating the law it needs to be investigated...
It seems the OP is trashing Hillary for having ties to this group that is attempting to hold a corrupt politician to the laws he swore to uphold... Good for them & why try to bash Hillary???
Damn I'm tired of the endless Hillary bashing

For what it's worth, I'm supporting Hillary Clinton next year.

(19,565 posts)It was styled that way, I think in part, because of this statement by Chris Christie:
David Brock and the Clinton's are said to be close friends, and Brock is a strong supporter of Hillary running in 2016. It's also no secret that Brock's American Democracy Legal Fund and American Bridge are now both connected to exposing Chris Christi's actions, so I guess that's where they make the connection.
David Brock has come a long way since the 90's when his goal was to bring down President Clinton, that's for sure!

(22,000 posts)Apparently it was Christie that made a big deal about it, not the newspaper.
If you do support Hillary Clinton I suggest getting some thicker skin because if she does get in the race she IS going to be questioned by a lot of people including myself on her policy stances.
This is small potatoes compared to the other stuff that's been said about her.

(2,157 posts)And or is the sole reason there's any investigation to begin with & it was brought on by Hillary Clinton because she is running for President & Is simply doing this to discredit Governor Christie who is just as well considered GOP's frontrunner for President...Which I believe we can agree that this is simply not the case, the investigation was brought forth by A group that has supported a number of Democrats and Democratic causes & issues....
BTW I have thick skin & why do you find it necessary to question my character, When we are both Democrats?
How about we make it the goal of the members of this site to start showing respect to each other even if we disagree?

(19,565 posts)It's basically an update and I'd prefer to do it that way, or is proper form to add it in my comments section? Maybe I could do that in reverse and add the old one in the comments and the new one as the OP? I don't want to commit an offense against protocol, but admit to disliking the original framing of the article.

(67,782 posts)...sees and pretty much agrees that the original article (you didn't write it) has a poor headline.

(67,782 posts)...the original one. There apparently was a second group that filed a complaint, too. All things considered, that's good!
