Sam Brownback reverses course, proposes new taxes.

Source: politico

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, whose massive tax cuts became a cause célèbre for conservatives but threw his state’s budget into disarray, announced Friday that he would pursue tax increases.

In a stark turnaround, the Republican called for higher taxes on cigarettes and liquor as part of his annual budget while proposing to make future tax cuts contingent on revenue projections.

are always regressive, hitting poorer smokers and drinkers the hardest.

They're also going to be inadequate to make up for the budgetary carnage his giveaways to the rich caused. Eventually, he's either going to have to raise their taxes to the original level or have the state bankrupt while he's in office.

Stupid ideologues.

Of course the taxes he proposes are the most regressive kind. Of course, he couldn't tax businesses and the rich more, even after the huge cuts to their obligations he made last year.

He's such a jerk.

states. All these states are way over budget, so it not sure how they plan to raise revenue to fund schools and other programs. This whole tax issue by the GOP is interesting. They think by lowering corporate/business taxes, they will get more businesses and jobs into their states. History shows it just does not happen.

on the working class, of course.

They would fall on their sword and commit mass suicide before raising them on the rich though.

And lots of working class people vote republican so they and their families can get f***ed over by these slimeballs, go figure.
