An Israeli helicopter strike in Syria killed a commander from Lebanon's Hezbollah and the son of the group's late military leader Imad Moughniyah, sources close to Hezbollah said, in a major blow that could lead to reprisal attacks.
The Daily Star reports that an Iranian field commander was also killed in the strike. Other reports claim that more than one Iranian officer died.
The strike hit a convoy carrying Jihad Moughniyah and other Hezbollah members including commander Abu Issa, in the Syrian province of Quneitra, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Lebanese sources said, killing five Hezbollah members in all.

BEIRUT: An Israeli helicopter strike on Syria's Golan Heights Sunday killed the son of slain Hezbollah top commander Imad Mughniyeh and 6 other fighters, a statement by Hezbollah said.
Jihad Mughniyeh, field commander Mohammad Issa who goes by the nom de guerre "Abu Issa" and 4 other Hezbollah fighters were killed in the attack.
An Iranian field commander Abu Ali Tabtabai was also killed in the strike, a Lebanese security source said. The strike entirely destroyed one Hezbollah vehicle and damaged another, the source said.
Hezbollah issued a statement confirming the strike saying "a number of mujahedeens were martyred," during an inspection mission in the Syrian town of Quneitra. The Hezbollah statement added that the names of the fighters will be divulged later.

Five Hezbollah members and six Iranians were killed Sunday in an alleged Israeli strike in southern Syria's Quneitra province, a source close to the Lebanese Shiite militant group has said.
"Six Iranians, including a field commander, were killed in the Israeli strike," the source told The Anadolu Agency.
He added that five Hezbollah members were also killed in the same Israeli attack.
"The five included two Hezbollah commanders and the son of slain Hezbollah military commander Imad Mughniyah," added the source.
