Producer Alan Ladd’s Wife Accuses Bill Cosby of Drugging, Raping Her in 1969

Source: Variety

Cindra Ladd, a former film industry exec and wife of producer Alan Ladd Jr., is the latest woman to accuse Bill Cosby of raping and drugging her years ago.

In a first-person article published by Huffington Post, Ladd recounts her experience with Cosby when she was 21 and working for producer Ray Stark in New York. Ladd asserts that after becoming friendly in a nonsexual way with Cosby, she was heading to a movie with him one evening when he gave her a pill that he said would help her headache.

“For more than 45 years I have tried to recall exactly what happened that night. To this day it remains a blur. I have a vague recollection of feeling like I was floating while walking through Times Square and watching some kind of Japanese samurai movie with him. I don’t remember where the theater was nor very much of the evening,” Ladd wrote. “What I do recall, vividly and clearly, is waking up the next morning nude in the bed of his friend’s apartment and seeing Cosby wearing a white terrycloth bathrobe and acting as if there was nothing unusual. It was obvious to me that he had had sex with me. I was horrified, embarrassed and ashamed.”

Ladd wrote that it “never occurred to me” to contact law enforcement, given Cosby’s stature as an entertainer and in an era before “date rape” was recognized as a crime. She told her husband about the incident nine years ago, when another woman accused Cosby of similar acts, Ladd wrote.

many women were willing to essentially enable him to do it to other women by not reporting it and now because of how long ago the majority of these cases date back to he probably wont ever see a day in prison so justice probably will never be done.

Mr. Cosby has long been an advocate of reason and a voice raising the concerns of black America.

That he was a scumbag all along has done damage in more ways than one.

How many times have we seen the old "stand by your man" routine take this route when the heat dies down?

It always seemed a bit odd that to me he specifically chose Gynecology as Dr. Huxtable's specialty on that show. I can't think of another sitcom where a lead doctor character wasn't anything other than a general practitioner of some kind. You know, so that they could interact with a variety of wacky personalities of all different ages and genders.

According to at least one account, Coz would set up a "scene" in an OB/GYN's office that his prospects could then "audition" in. That is really messed up.

Little known fact: having some creep force their dick into you doesn't make you responsible for anything they do with their dick from that day forward.

The sort of gaslighting and victim blaming you're engaged in is exactly what keeps victims quiet. And I suspect that's the point.

Date rape wasn't even considered a crime in 1969. Hell, it pretty much isn't now. This was a man with power and money. I do not blame his victims, I blame him and the other individuals who knew and covered it up for him. It's shocking. But fundamentally, the charges have been around for a while and it took a man believing them to make them go viral. Remember that.

You have no idea what it's like for a rape victim who reports the crime, do you.

Not only is it another terrible ordeal, but the chances are good the police or district attorney will do nothing, years ago the victim's reputation would have been ruined, likely she'd have lost her job and often any chance at marriage. And she would have accomplished nothing. No one would have taken her word against Cosby's.

You must be young and completely clueless. And your post is unintentionally, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt, vicious.

But thats just the current law if say back in the 70s or 80s the statute was shorter then that may be the one that applies because I dont believe they can make it retroactive though I am not 100% sure on that of course.
