They start with groups that the "majority" are quick to fear and hate. By the time the "majority" realizes that the invasive, restrictive, and draconian laws passed to control "those people" will also be used against them, it's usually too late.

But the desire for dominion over the lives of others has been inbred, and wrongfully admired, for too long for us to hope it will be overcome anytime soon. As long as an evil pig like Ayn Rand still has a horde of sycophantic admirers, common human decency will come in second to pathological selfishness. Long live Hendrix!
