The logic that torture is a “stain” on U.S. history is the heart of the problem, since it blocks an honest reading of whatever “values” Washington actually stands for.

“This is not who we are. This is not how we operate,” were the words of President Barack Obama commenting on the grisly findings of a long-awaited congressional report on the use of torture by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

But what if this is exactly who we are?

The report is difficult to read, not just because it is awfully long -- hundreds of pages of a summary of a nearly 6,000-page investigation, including 38,000 citations based on the review of six million pages -- but because it was most disturbing. Parts of it resemble the horror of an extremely dark Hollywood movie. But it was all real: from rectal feeding (as in putting hummus in detainee's rectums), to rape, to torturing prisoners to death, to blinding prisoners, to forcing them to stand on broken feet, for days. It is beyond ghastly.

American people need to wake up.

They need to study the history of this country.

Of special importance from WW ll to the present.

We need to find out what our government has done, admit it and fight like hell to change it.

P.S. If you really want to know about the United States study our history from the beginning. We tortured Native Americans (adults and children), we killed Native Americans with such little regard it was almost a sport; bounties for scalps.

We tortured black people (adults and children) we hunted and killed slaves that 'escaped'.

The history of this country is violent and torture was always used.

This is the year 2014.

Is it wrong that I expect a deceit government and country ???

I really wish torture was in the past but I don't think the record will bear that out.

The CIA tortures people all over the globe.

They train people to torture. These trained torturers return home and torture their citizens, over throw governments and steal the wealth of countries.

They train people in the U.S. at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Operation (aka School of the Americas)

We torture our own people in prisons all over this country. We put juveniles in solitary confinement. The police are shooting innocent people in the streets.

The examples are too numerous to list.

The United States is a rogue country.

It is exactly who we are and people need to admit it and fight like hell to change it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
