"American Energy Renaissance Act" DISASTER by Senators Cruz & Bridenstine

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Okla, introduced on Wednesday the American Energy Renaissance Act that would rollback or end several federal regulations on the nations oil and gas industry.
The proposed legislation, introduced into the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, would leave the regulation of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to the states rather than the federal government.
HERE IS THE CORE of this BILL:
... proposed legislation would speed up the permitting process for new refineries, phase out and repeal the Renewable Fuel Standards over five years, end federal regulation of greenhouse gases that have been linked to global climate change, open up national reserves in Alaska and Native American reservations for oil and coal production, and immediately approve the Keystone pipeline, among others.
(snip) Opening federal lands to oil and gas development, allowing exports and infrastructure improvements, and stopping regulatory overreach will greatly expand U.S. energy production.
(snip) Cruz said ".... will we instead shut off our borders, erect walls, and allow our friends and allies to be dependent on tyrants like Vladimir Putin or Nicolas Maduro? We need to come together in a bipartisan manner..."
(snip) Neither Cruz or Bridenstine addressed the possible environmental impact that the proposed legislation might have.

This is how they continue to push for the fossil fuel industry.
If we think it will end with a Presidential Veto, wait a week. Here in the back room is the continued plotting to go around regulations, vetoes, EPA, & Fed oversight.
Their way is simply to legislate away, what threatens their forward move to profit from poision.
Climate be damned.

(9,148 posts)In other words this Bill would eliminate any regulations for the Coal/Oil industry & they could drill & mine wherever they felt like. Regardless of humanity, trees, animals, Mother Earth or Father Sky.
I am so sick of the Cruz's & Kochs & all those who smugly believe this world is for them alone.
Sick of it.

(9,148 posts)Greed for money IS the root of all evil.
And the paid hacks that speak for Kochs & the industry that stinks up our planet, those like Cruz & the GOPTEAbillies.
Senator Hoeven NDakota recently proclaimed that Keystone is far from over & will be brought back for a vote in another form and next time it will pass.
Guess they are counting on a 2016 GOP President. By hook or by crook they will have all their corporate dreams fulfilled.
This stinking Bill is just one on their list of horrors they have planned when they have their 2016 GOP trifecta.
President, Senate & House.
Cruz's Senate Bill will become law within a week of a GOP win.
