In our country glyphosate is applied on more than 28 million hectares. Each year, the soil is sprayed with more than 320 million liters, which means that 13 million people are at risk of being affected, according to the Physicians Network of Sprayed Peoples (RMPF), Argentinas union of medical professionals, Fesprosa said in a statement.
The Fesprosa union is comprised of over 30,000 medical health professionals, most of whom wish to enact the ban on Monsanto products, and specifically the chemical glyphosate, the active chemical in RoundUp.
We believe the precautionary principle should be applied, and that we should stop accumulating studies and take decisions that could come too late. We advocate a ban on glyphosate which should take effect in the short term with restrictions on purchasing, spraying and packaging, Javier Souza, coordinator of Latin American pesticide action network said.
We cannot allow the business interests of a North American multinational to be more important than the health of the people of our region. Governments should promote the technology and practices of organic farming to protect growers, consumers and the environment, Franco Segesso, coordinator of the campaign at Greenpeace Andino said.

(17,301 posts)Round Up is the most common herbicide used in the US. It is frequently combined with GMO Round Up resistant corn. It is in almost everything that has high fructose corn syrup. Yes, while you are getting really, really fat from eating those processed foods with high fructose Corn syrup, you are also getting a nice big dose of Round Up with your GMO corn syrup. Round Up has been linked with numerous outbreaks of devastating kidney failure epidemics. It has been noted in South America, India and other 3rd world countries that have few dialysis centers. Victims in those countries usually die. It frequently happens when Round Up is combined with hard water and high environmental temperatures, much like most of the southern parts of the US.
Monsanto is going to face the same issues that tobacco companies faced in about 20 years. Round Up which contains glyphosates combines with heavy metals and are not recognized by the liver. So they go on to your kidney to wreak havoc on that organ. But don't worry, if your kidneys fail, you automatically qualify for Medicare. It's as if Monsanto and the US government knew Round Up would kill your kidneys so they pass the cost onto the tax payer. Now Monsanto can keep selling their poisons knowing that though they are destroying your kidneys, you can always get help paying for those huge dialysis bills.

(160,542 posts)How many more have to lose their own health, or see their loved ones stricken down, how many people have to die early in their lives before anything can stop the power of these creeps determined to do business with government leaders while the people are dying?
Why don't they ever ask the people who've lost their husbands, wives, children, parents, neighbors, livestock, their crops, and livelihood, and have seen the fish, the birds, animals decimated as a result of these clowns' product decimating life outside the cities?
Savagely cruel in their greed. They should have been stopped so long ago.

I don't believe this anymore. Same for BP, pretending to do cleanup with their massive Corexit poisoning of the Gulf.
